Emby server not correctly detecting if media is interlaced

All of my interlaced content says "Interlaced: No" in the Media Info properties. I noticed recent server changelogs talk about better interlaced detection, however, if some or all media is being reported as not interlaced, it could affect the reliability of deinterlacing during playback.

If you play with deinterlacing off, you can clearly see it's not progressive with interlacing lines everywhere.

 

The MediaInfo report for it says:

Scan type                                : MBAFF

So the question would be is this a defect in ffmpeg/ffprobe?

 

Can you post a server log to show what version you have.

 

I will test the same you provided to see what media info it provides on my server and post back.

It could be old data saved from an older server version. Try refreshing the file using the 3-dot menu on the detail screen.

It could be old data saved from an older server version. Try refreshing the file using the 3-dot menu on the detail screen.

I refreshed it all 3 ways, but it still says Interlaced: No. Seems to be a "stuck" property if an old server version incorrectly detected it.

 

I'm running 3.2.32.0

In this case happy2play is right. The detection coming from ffprobe is not perfect. We are going to look at updating to a new ffmpeg soon and hopefully that will resolve it. thanks.

Can you shutdown your server and delete this folder "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\ffmpeg\20160410".  Then relaunch server it will get the newest version and try to refresh that media again.

In the ffmpeg folder there actually was already a 20170308 folder, but it was empty. I deleted both folders and it redownload 20170308 with the .exes after a server restart.

 

Anyway, I just did a refresh and it now it correctly says Interlaced: Yes
