Help setting up MB3 to access network storage

Recommended Posts

So I have MB3, been running great. Got the bright idea to go out and get a NAS. Ended up buying a 4tb WD MyCloud drive. Transfered all my media over to the new drive, and now I cannot for the life of me get the library pointing to the correct places on the NAS. I have media sharing(DNLA server) turned on, and even FTP turned on trying to get it to connect to the drive. It sees the device as a whole, but wont go any further into the file structure, and when I try to just select the drive it tells me that the path does not exist. I've gone as far as using the ip address for the folder address, using the actual folder path etc etc and I cannot get it to work. Any suggestions?

Hi

did you try to map network drive ? usually a user can back slash to locations \\ nas server\hard drive \ folder

You should be using samba (SMB) - maybe that needs to be enabled on your WD drive. Somewhere you should have given your WD drive a name - let's use "cloud" as an example.

So, on your PC you should be able to see the contents of your drive my typing "\\cloud" into the address bar of file explorer.

You should put all your videos inside folders on your drive: and then point MB Server at those paths.

eg.

Movies - path: \\cloud\movies

TV - path: \\cloud\TV

etc.

But, if you can't browse to these locations in windows file explorer then something else needs to be enabled on your drive.

well oddly enough, it seems to just be my computer. I cant access any of the network devices/computers from my laptop... yet on my wifes desktop all works flawlessly. So now I have to figure out whats causing that on my laptop. all devices are wired and have good ip addresses so its gotta be some setting messed up on my laptop

yes I read the article. I've tried disabling everything firewall/AV related and have added exceptions for every program involved. I've checked drivers on my adapter, uninstalled everything network related and re-installed. made sure all the services that should be on are on and set to automatic in my registry, tried several different network configurations. I can ping by using the name and the ip address all directions, from my pc to my wife's or the NAS and vice versa, so they can talk to each other, but every time i go to explore any device on the network it gives me that error. a week ago it worked flawlessly. basicly if you google error code 0x80070035 I've read through 10 pages worth of search results and tried every suggestion listed in them without successfully fixing the problem. I'm probably going to just format my computer tomorrow. I can access my NAS through its web interface so I'll just back my stuff up and start fresh
