ilovetesting 0 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Hi! I see 2 files to download in the Beta releases of Emby for Windows: - emby.windows.zip- embyserver-win-x64-3.2.30.25.7z What are the differences between these 2 files? Thanks
ilovetesting 0 Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 Hi! I was just looking for the latest versions, because i have problems with folders with pictures and videos, and then i found these 2 files. Why there are 2 different files? Thanks
Luke 42080 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to know why you aren't just using the installation procedures from the website. That is our supported installation method. If you do that, then you wouldn't have this question to start with.
ilovetesting 0 Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 Well, i'm interested in using the portable version so i don't have to install. And that file is: emby.windows.zip Then i found the bigger file: embyserver-win-x64-3.2.30.25.7z I would like to choose the correct one because i will try to use this and i don't what to find that after some days i will have to reuse another file and start all over again. Thanks.
Luke 42080 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Whichever one the website tells you to get In this case emby.windows.zip.
ilovetesting 0 Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 Ok, thanks. The other file is bigger so i thought that could have more options or plugins. Thanks.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 But to answer your question one is beta and the other is dotnet beta build. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/50012-emby-server-for-net-core/
ilovetesting 0 Posted September 19, 2017 Author Posted September 19, 2017 Hi! Thanks for the answer, know i know what are the 2 files. As i understand the future is for the .NET version (embyserver-win-x64-3.2.30.25.7z) So this is the way to go. I will think about it and choose the right one for me. As my goal is to have only my content, my folders, pictures, videos available to me in any machine i use and everywhere, and not to use any kind of tv or other external content, i think i can choose the future .NET version, and go for the beta. I want a portable version and i don't want to install so i will run when i want. If something happens i will have a backup copy of a single folder with everything inside. And if a really bad thing happen i can rebuld the library in a new installation. Thanks for the answer that responds to my question..
Luke 42080 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 What I'm going to do is change the portable instructions to just link to the file directly and then there will never be any reason to grab zip files from github.
