Server Configuration Backup: Broken since moving data folder to USB

So, I followed the instructions to move the Emby/data/ folder to a faster USB drive, as detailed in the Performance Improvements post (and my post on Emby and Synology). .... And, that is generally a vast improvement.

But .... the Server Configuration Backup plug-in no longer works.  It doesn't copy the \users\<name>\files (config.xml, policy.xml, and sec.txt).  Everything else copies properly (well, I assume, they seem to).

I have tried to chown and chgrp to the same settings as the old (pre-USB move) files, but that hasn't worked.  I am not sure if it just refuses to follow the symlink or if there is something special that is wrong.

As I found Config Backup highly useful before (thank you) it would be disappointing if I can't get it to work now.

Suggestions?

Files to be attached.

Sorry, what folder exactly did you move?

cp -R /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/var/data/ /volumeUSB1/usbshare/Emby/data/

ln -s /volumeUSB1/usbshare/Emby/data /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/var/data

If you read the Performance Improvements post, it'll explain exactly what I did.

See also the files I just uploaded.

I'll upload the log file in a second.

Ok, while it's nice that you found a community tip and trick, please be aware it's not something we have ever tested, therefore we cannot currently make any promises that things are going to work properly after making the change.

If you do attach the log though, perhaps there will be something that can be easily fixed. thanks.

Understood

I am doing something weird and should expect weird results.

I am outside the normal bounds, I understand.

But, if I don't report anything then you never know.

Yes, you're exactly right :)

For starters, I would go to the plugin catalog, and make sure the latest version of the backup plugin is the one you have installed. Thanks.

While you're there you should do the same with the Roku plugin because that one looks out of date as well. Thanks.

Well, that made a difference!

It works now.   :)

Not sure why the automated plug-in update Scheduled Task didn't pick those up.  I assume moving things subtlety broke a few things.  Hopefully now that the 2 plugins have been updated post-move they'll show up in the Scheduled task scan.  If not, I can do it manually.

Thanks again for the suggestion and fix.
