I'm having a strange issue. A lot of my artist folders are only showing one video. If I move them to the root directory, they are all there. If I move them back to the artist folder, only one video is shown.

OK, I figured this out. Even though the full name of the video is different, that they begin with the same word, the server can't separate them and they all are considered one file. Removing the artist name from the beginning, solves the problem. But if you put them in the root folder, they are read individually, without removing the artist name.

Sounds like the same stacking issue that was fixed here.  Maybe this content type has the same issue.

That looks like the same issue.

No, they are falling into multi-version naming. That's what the 3 is for.

But when you select it, you only get one. I understood the meaning of the number, but I couldn't get to the videos. From a user point of view, it doesn't work. I shall remember to remove the artist name.

Our automatic multi-versioning is designed to automatically select the proper version for the target device.  It is designed for multiple formats of the same item, not different versions of the same logical item.

The proper solution is to re name them outside of that convention.

Does that make sense?

I understand, and that's what I stated I had done. But why have versioning for music videos? There won't be much need of them being transcoded. The bitrate is low and the audio is widely supported.

Looking at the Wiki again it is just the naming convention that is the issue.

Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ". If this requirement is not met, they will be treated as separate videos.

That's exactly how they were named. And that's what I changed. I removed the artist name, and they were read, individually. I just don't see the point in having it that way for music videos. Oh well, it's an easy fix :)

You can leave artist but just don't use the spaced out hyphen

Yeah, I figured that, but if I'm changing it, I'd just assume call it by the song title, only. I think it's actually better that way, now that I think about it.

I find this workaround completely unacceptable attempt to fix issue caused by poor design solution. Artist - title is extremely widely used naming pattern for music and music videos. Therefore forcing users not to use that ain't gonna fly wit with me. Proper way would be to add item naming pattern properly to library. Then you could tell the system that version qualifier exists after the second hyphen, not after the first.
