Delay in playback starting and then crashing

Recommended Posts

I have seen a weird behavious in the MBT internal player where I select to play a video file and it does not respond for a period of a few seconds, not even a click, then I assume it has not accepted the command from the remote so I try to play the file again.  Then the player tries to play the file twice with two different start points and this crashes the player bringing up a dialog box to close media browser theater.

The delay is annoying but the ability to play more than one video file at a time thereby crashing the player seems like something that should be simply excluded from being allowed to happen by the UI/Player.

I encounter this quite a bit on my HTPC, which I generally control with a logitech harmony remote.  I can browse through my collection without problems but once I try to choose play it acts the same way almost every time.  I'll press the button to play the video and it ignores the command, so then I press right on my controller to see if the PC is frozen or it just ignored the command.  Once the cursor moves I move it back to play and then it allows me to select it.  If I try to select play twice in a row without giving it time to move back and forth it tries to play the file but crashes.  I can provide some clean logs if it would help.

I agree press the button then don't do anything and it will work.  The problem is it doesn't respond in any way to let you know the button press was recognised.

Surely the player should have situationally aware configuration for repsponding to the remote.  Once play has been pressed then you'd not accept a further play command or anything else that can be done in the playing video or to stop the playback.

Agreed, it is a bug that I am sure the devs are now aware of and hopefully one of them can step in here and assure all of us that they have a fix on the way until then we will just have to work with the alpha client the way it is.

Same issue here, using MBC, I personally have mine setup to play 2 remote trailers, and 2 local intros, all four of those play immediately, as soon as it goes to play the main movie it sits for 2-8 seconds before the video starts playing after playing the last intro.  Running the latest Dev Versions of MBC and MB Server.

are you using madvr? or audio bitstreaming? i've had issues in the past with audio bitstreaming enabled and that the sound output didnt support it.

I can confirm the same thing happens on my setup, it's been an issue since I installed MBT.
