legallink 187 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 I attempted to play a movie on my server (Spectre), and I'm having a few issues. 1. On Chrome, it wouldn't play at all. I would get a frame by frame stutter. So, an image would appear, but it wouldn't "play" 2. On Chrome and iOS, it transcoded the file despite the fact that there is an MP4 in place (as well as the MKV). I believe it should be direct streaming, if not direct playing. Logs attached. Screen shot attached with Media Info as well. Thanks! ffmpeg-transcode-68d98c3c-24dd-4df9-bbde-d3443f532374.txt ffmpeg-transcode-c9a251af-f461-4aa6-8507-cfed5f40288b.txt server-63640684803.txt
Luke 42085 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 It's transcoding because it has to burn in subtitles. Burning in subtitles can be painful, and in your first ffmpeg log it appears it is just not happening fast enough to be playable.
legallink 187 Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 (edited) @@Luke. Yes but in the MP4 they are already burned in. Additionally any reason it should burn fast enough for iOS but not chrome? Edited September 11, 2017 by legallink
Luke 42085 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 The two apps requested different bitrates, therefore the transcoding sessions were different.
