I am trying to add my son as a guest for my account, but keep getting this error when I try to sign him up.  He live in Pitsburgh, and wants to watch the Detroit Lions from my server...... HELP!!!!!!  He is using a Roku and a Fire stick.

To test the live streams coming from my home to his home, I gave him the WAN IP of my server, and he is able to watch live TV from his Amazon tablet.

Need to be able to watch the live streams using his Roku.

thanks.

What version of Emby Server are you running?

Version 3.2.30.0

So first things first, did you read the error message, and if so, what did you do after that?

I even setup up a new account, but got the same message.  Guess I do not know how to add a guest.  Or do I add him as a user?

Posted

I would think, when I add a guest, it should ask for his email so I can send him an invite.

You can't create a guest account until you have linked a local user account first.

@@Happy2Play this is not true. Just click the Add button next to the Guests header.

I have done that, and even added a new account.  Even get emails confirming that I created an account.

Well then you're already done. You don't link a user AND invite a guest. You pick one or the other. So you've linked the user, now you're done.

I am missing my football game trying to help him.....argggggggggggg.

Ok let me clarify. There needs to be a single admin on the emby server that must be linked through Emby Connect. So yes that is true.

But the person you are inviting does not need to be linked.

How does he access my account using his Roku?????????  It is not working for him.

I am the one trying to log into my dad's server. I installed the emby app on my new roku this morning. I created a new Emby account today as well. When I log into emby I see two options - add new server or sign in. Once I am signed in I then see two options - New Server or Sign in with Emby Connect.

The Sign In redirects me to a webpage with a pin. After I successfully enter the pin, I am redirected back to the same two options. Should I be trying to connect to a new server instead?

Problem was FireFox using Windows 10.  Used Windows explore and the options to send email invite was there......

Problem was not resolved.  I can now see the server that Clarkss12 is trying to share, but when I click connect, it times out and I see the following message: We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again.

Have you tried selecting Skip and manually entering the server information?

Hi @@Ltcolt1, I think there might be an issue in the Roku app that we need to look at.

In the meantime you can try doing what happy2play suggested and just manually enter the server connection info from within the Roku app. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
