nvader2000 12 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 I have been a long user of Plex and had well saturated environment of its products. However, recently Plex has been giving some headaches that would simply not go away. So I decided to try Emby out for a month. At this point I have fully committed to Emby, thus replaced Plex on all my devices. Key points to my move are in order of importance, 1. Performance 2. Interface (simple to use, wife is happy) 3. Supports my DS3615sx Synology 4. Supports my Windows 10 Mobile 5. Better information on screen and during movie playback 6. More backend control 7. Cooler company icon I have purchased a monthly subscription to help support the Emby staff. Lifetime only benefits the end user long term but I want to help keep Emby alive and well. Keep up the great work Emby! 7
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 I, too, have pretty much made the move from Plex to Emby as I have mentioned in another thread or two even though I have been a LONG time Plex user. I am still running a Plex server, it is running on my Shield Pro so it really does not get in the way, but I am using Emby clients exclusively. I have a few wants/wishes for Emby, again as specified elsewhere, but it works as expected and the apps on the Fire and the Shield are actually pretty much fully functional which cannot be said for Plex on the same devices. The only thing I am having trouble with is figuring out audiobooks but that never worked right under Plex so my alternative solution using MediaMonkey on a small PC is working fine and I can take my time getting audiobooks functional in Emby. I think Emby lacks a few of the "fancy" features that Plex has but not one of those is at all important to me. In fact I consider most of that as useless fluff that just gets in the way of enjoying my media or puts an extra burden on the Plex system or both. For my use it appears that Emby is the better choice for me and, from the responses I have received fro Emby developers in other threads, Emby is quite open to ideas even from newbies. (Of course the "ideas" may not get implemented but it is good to actually feel listened to and not every idea is either good or possible or a good fit.) I would like also to complement Emby on their system. It works and that is what is important to me. 5

I am using it now and like where he is taking it. He even mentioned working on possibly adding it to the core. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/50141-EmBook---Proper-support-for-AudioBooks That is one great thing about emby. They allow third party developers. 1
