paulsalter 84 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Quick Question How does Emby use regional terminology Just looking through my library and noticed that some shows have 'Season 01' under them and some use the more common UK version of 'Series 1' I have all my shows on disk using the Season terminology, so prefer this in my library Is this a deliberate new change, as it only seems to be things recently added Eg, new episode of Cold Feet added to library f:\Cold Feet\Season 07\Cold Feet - S07E01 This is shown in the library a Series 7 instead of Season 07 Unfortunately i have renamed them all now in metadata manager so dont have any data, but can get some next time something new gets added
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) Best guess TMDB is the issue. https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/749-cold-feet/seasons https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/749-cold-feet/season/7 Edited September 10, 2017 by Happy2Play 1
paulsalter 84 Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 Thanks for the info I have a few other new shows next week, so will check tmdb to see how they list them Cheers:)
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) Since it is a community site I would personally change the english translation. Edited September 10, 2017 by Happy2Play
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Interesting Bosnian translation used Season vs English uses Series. So who ever added the translation messed it up.
paulsalter 84 Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 Thanks I have a couple of new shows tomorrow, tmdb has both of these down using Season If these works ok then i will go in an edit the others on tmdb
Luke 42078 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 The best thing to do is change our translation text on OneSky for en-GB. You can change it on TMDB, but that only applies if you enable TMDB metadata for seasons.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 @@paulsalter Do you have season level metadata enabled? Dashboard-Library-Metadata- drop-down seasons
paulsalter 84 Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 Hi tmdb under that section is unticked, so not using it the only things selected are save to nfo & the image grabbers I know this used to work fine, but its not often i add a new season of something was just looking through my library today and noticed some of the recent additions where using Series instead of Season as the season name About end of July it was working as expected (using Season) as i did a reorganise of my recordings and they got added as i expected, so sometime between beginning of August to now it started using the term Series instead of Season My library has always been set to use UK/GB English
Luke 42078 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 because we used to use the name of the season folder as the season name, but that is not practical and places a dependency on having a clean folder structure. now we use a fixed title, and the translation is on onesky so that it can be customized for each language.
paulsalter 84 Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 Does this mean all new shows/seasons are now going to be using Series 1 etc for parts of the system instead of Season xx For me it makes things look a bit messy this is an example of my library, Season is still used at the top (should be Series if regional), then under each there is a mixture It's not a major issue to fix this, but would be nice to standardise
CBers 7450 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Does this mean all new shows/seasons are now going to be using Series 1 etc for parts of the system instead of Season xx I'm in the UK and I am not seeing SERIES. All of my seasons are in SEASON folders. Is it just with recordings that you're having an issue with?

Is it just with recordings that you're having an issue with? Hi, I have only seen it happen on recordings so far, but only on ones that have a new season added in the last month ish (ie Cold Feet last Friday) I have 2 new shows set to record on Monday night (I will see how it adds these) My recordings are done via NextPVR, then i just point Emby at the recording directory, dont use the plugin (all in format Show\Season\Episodes)
CBers 7450 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 I have 2 new shows set to record on Monday night (I will see how it adds these) Which shows? Perhaps I'll do the same and we'll compare the results What is your source, HDHomeRun? 1
paulsalter 84 Posted September 10, 2017 Author Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) That would be good, thanks My source is just a cheap usb tuner, only single tuner, but with NextPVR it can record numerous channels from the same Mux (great as all the HD on the same mux) The shows are on at 9pm (BBC1 & ITV1), one is called Rellik and the other is Liar Edited September 10, 2017 by paulsalter
CBers 7450 Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 The shows are on at 9pm (BBC1 & ITV1), one is called Rellik and the other is Liar OK. My source is mainly IPTV, but I have a test server hooked up with HDHomeRun, so I can record both on both servers.
ebr 16184 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 This has to be something recent at the tvdb because I saw one of my UK series that I watch now using the "Series" terminology. Have never seen that before.
paulsalter 84 Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 It doesnt seem to be related to the country of the show, looks like having settings set to use UK English gives you series now I have just added a couple of seasons to shows, one is Australian the other is a US one
CBers 7450 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 The shows are on at 9pm (BBC1 & ITV1), one is called Rellik and the other is Liar @@paulsalter Both series were created with a "Season 1" folder, from both IPTV and HDHomeRun sources.
paulsalter 84 Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Interesting Both of mine where created with Series 1 I have an ugly mix of Season/Series now even after correcting the entry in metadata manager In Pic1 i cannot get rid of the term Series, i see no way to fix this one in Pic 2 I can get this back to Season 01 in metadata manager
CBers 7450 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Under Library/Metadata/Customise for media type do you have Series in the list, or Shows? I have Series. I'm sure that used to be Shows. Perhaps it wasn't changed after this discussion: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/45951-tv-library-series-v-shows/
paulsalter 84 Posted September 12, 2017 Author Posted September 12, 2017 I have Series in that list Country on that page is set to UK and all libraries set to UK It just makes everything look a bit messy now Season/Series are used within the library to mean the same thing and Shows are also Called Series I prefer the US naming, but if we are going to get regional names, it needs to be regional not a US/UK mix
CBers 7450 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Season/Series are used within the library to mean the same thing and Shows are also Called Series Where do you see shows called Series ??
paulsalter 84 Posted September 12, 2017 Author Posted September 12, 2017 In that list you mentioned, i also see it using the cover art plugin, at the top of the cover art the cover art plugin might be configurable , but i have never checked on this
