gcoupe 63 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Running server version 3.0.5170.675, and the entire Music library tree in the metadata editor is showing the padlock icon against all folders. Other media libraries (Movies, TV, Photos) don't show this. When I try to use the metadata editor to download album art to the Music Library I get an "access denied" error. I don't understand how the Music Library entries have all got locked, and can't find how to unlock them. I see that there's a "Lock this item to prevent future changes" checkbox in the Metadata tab for each folder. But clearing this checkbox and saving does not make the padlock icon go away. Further, if this is the checkbox that should do the trick, is there not a way to reset all the folders at once? I don't much fancy having to clear the checkbox on 1,500 folders one by one... Help? Thanks.
gcoupe 63 Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Thinking about this a bit more, I believe that what has happened is that, in the previous version of the server, I had set the checkbox to stop metadata being downloaded into the Music library - i.e. one checkbox. Now, with the latest version of the server, that setting has been carried over, only now I have to clear 1,500 checkboxes instead of just one. And to make things worse, the checkboxes don't seem to be working... I think the best option is to remove the Music Library in its entirety from the server, and then set it up again...
gcoupe 63 Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) OK, so I removed the Music Library from the server media library entries, restarted the server, and let the "scan media library" task complete. There were no entries shown under Music in the metadata editor, and the Music entry itself was not locked to prevent metadata being added. I then added back the root folder holding the music collection on the server (using a UNC server path) and let the scan task complete again. Result? - same as before; all folders are displayed with a padlock icon, but none of the folders have the checkbox set to lock the metadata, and all metadata items are set to "on" to allow downloading of metadata. Please, what is going on here? Edited February 27, 2014 by gcoupe
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Check the file permissions on the disk and make sure the user running the server has write permissions.
gcoupe 63 Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 File permissions are the same as for other media folders (which don't display the padlock icon), and it's the Administrator account, which I assume must have the same permissions as the Administrator account on the WHS 2011 system the server runs under.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Trying to recreate this and haven't been able to. Permissions were the only thing I could think of.
gcoupe 63 Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 I've tried one other thing: 1) removed the Music Library entry from the server and shutdown the MB3 server 2) deleted all the xml files in the Music folders, leaving only the music tracks in their folders 3) started up the MB3 server, added back the root music folder and waited until the media scan was completed Result? - the padlock icons are all still there... and still none of the folders have the checkbox set to lock the metadata, and all metadata items are set to "on" to allow downloading of metadata.
gcoupe 63 Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 OK, I've got rid of this issue by a complete uninstall of the server followed by a new reinstall. The padlock icons are now gone...
