Different Libraries Per User

Recommended Posts

Just want to make sure I am understanding this new server change correctly.

Previously I had two libraries created - one for default user and one for kids room that just had access to a Music folder containing lullabies and nothing else.

After updating it looks like the Music share was completely deleted because it was part of the separate library which was also deleted as part of the upgrade.

To restore my world, is the recommended process just adding that music library to the default, and then going into the users sections and unchecking it from the default user and making sure it's the only one selected for the kid's user?

Can we still use separate trakt accounts to have different watched status per user?

Yes. This is actually controlled by the Trakt Plugin and separate from Media Library setup.

So in my case, I have a shares for common TV shows, TV shows that interest me, and finally ones that are for my wife.  Do I now have to create separate libraries for each share?

I foresee three folders in a single library... TV (Common), TV (Husband), TV (Wife). On your wife's account you give access to Common and Wife. On your account you give access to Common and Husband. All one library in the current setup. In the older versions you would have to create multiple libraries for you and your wife.

Or... Just two Media Folders - "TV Husband" and "TV Wife" and both of them point to the common location as well.  I think that would probably give you more of what you want in the interface.

Thanks for those suggestions.  I was falling into the "when your only tool is a hammer..." trap.
