Emby for Kodi - Incremental Updates Every Few Minutes??

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm stumped. I have Emby for Kodi installed on two identical Kodi (LibreELEC) boxes. On my main box, everything works well. On my basement box, which I don't use nearly as often but is left on 24/7 just like my main box, I have a weird problem where it seems to do small incremental syncs every few minutes. Like 50-200 items. This is all occurring while there have been no substantive changes to my files/content. I'll even see the same content syncing multiple times back to back. As an example, as it's the only one I caught visibly today, Mr. 3000 seems to have synced in back to back Incremental Updates.

Log files for Kodi (LibreELEC) is attached.

Emby server (Unraid) via DropBox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0nf9cx1bdiop4np/Log.txt?dl=0

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It only sync when the server sends an update. But thank you for posting your logs. I'll check it out, but it will most likely be something outside of emby for kodi.

Then shouldn't I see the problem mirrored on both Kodi boxes?

Additionally, I'll see deletes not show up in Kodi, without a manual restart. For example, if I remux a movie to remove a track there would be a duplicate temporarily. Once I delete it, that dup doesn't disappear automagically, consistently...

You are getting a lot of updates. Like, a lot. What are your server settings under dashboard > library > Nfo settings

Any ideas?

Wouldn't the server log be more useful to help indicate why they were being triggered?

I previously provided that. Anything you'd like to see, just let me know.

Sorry. Your settings look fine. What I saw in your Kodi log was I believe, watched status update and deletions. You had easily over a 10000 updates.

Do you use trakt? Do you delete files a lot? Maybe a third party app that modifies your nfos?

Nope. I used to use a batch file that modified files nightly, but I disabled that per your recommend in a previous post. No major changes on the level you're describing.

In an effort to workaround the problem, is there any way to trigger Emby for Kodi to perform a Manual Sync? I've experimented with the Kodi Callbacks add-on:

RunPlugin(plugin.video.emby/?mode=manualsync)

But that doesn't seem to accomplish anything...

RunPlugin(plugin://plugin.video.emby/?mode=manualsync)

Ok, then that must have been it. Do you still experience a lot of incremental updates since disabling the batch file?

AH, that got it going. I'll use a scheduled manual sync in the background as workaround. Not 100% certain of it, but this should work as a catchall solution. Thanks again!!

Sure, but you should still try without it, and seeing if you still experience your issue. Let me know if it persists.

Thanks. I'll test both ways. Final question... is there any way to hide the Manual Sync progress, similar to incremental sync?

No because you don't want to do much of anything while it's running.
