darkassassin07 652 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I keep my movies list sorted by date added in descending order and have noticed recently several movies being re-added to my library. These are items that have been in the library for months and are suddenly displaying at the top of my list (with the date added field changed to todays date minus a day or two) The items that are re-added are removed from any collections they may be in, reset all metadata, some have to be manually re-identified, and user watch progress is reset. All my media is on a pair of HDDs on the server pc, nothing networked or removable...
Luke 42085 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Why do you think it's being removed and re-added?
darkassassin07 652 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Because all of the information has been reset to the original info when the item was first scanned (for example, i have a few movies that emby fails to find data for that have been manually identified (via entering an imdb id), this has reset those items to their state when first scanned: no images, no metadata to speak of, just a title and media info), the date added is updated to todays date(or the date they were re-added) their user watch history/progress is reset, and they are removed from any collections they were in... This seems to effect items randomly, some were in collections, some wernt, some had been given metadata automatically some were manually identified, some were added in the last few days, some months ago. And now looking through my whole library nothing is in even close to the order it was actually added, i even have a few with 'date added' set to things like 11/3/2013, and 1/2/2016 I started using emby in june 2017, and none of the media files on it are older than may 2017 (the files themselves, not the movies they contain) (i have my date added setting set to use the date the file was scanned in) Edited August 31, 2017 by darkassassin07
darkassassin07 652 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) No, all my movies are together in one folder, some with .srt's. Metadata is saved where ever the default path is. (ie not in media folders) However none of these files have changed since they were added Didnt see the need for individual folders to hold one maybe two files. Luke 42085 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 What i would suggest doing is fixing one individual title, then keeping an eye on it. If/when it happens again, try to grab the server log from that period of time. Thanks.
darkassassin07 652 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Alright well I have cleaned up my library for now, and ill keep an eye on the top of my list (sorted date added, descending) for any changes
Luke 42085 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 by the way if you are customizing metadata then i would highly suggest enabling nfo saving.
darkassassin07 652 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 You mean this? It was never off.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 One other thing to check is did you change the refresh metadata option in the Library setup page (per library) from never to one of the other options? 1
darkassassin07 652 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 No, that is set to never in all my libraries.
