TylerV76 84 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Is it possible to fast forward during an active recording? I just tried on a fire tv and it kept restarting the episode. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk 1
TylerV76 84 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Ill take that as a no lol. I thought it was possible before but I guess I was wrong.
ebr 16187 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Yes, that should be possible. Can you please specify a bit more about your issue? Thanks. How to Report a Problem
TylerV76 84 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Yes, that should be possible. Can you please specify a bit more about your issue? Thanks. How to Report a Problem Version .30 If a recording is in progress and I start viewing it say 30 minutes into a 1 hour recording and try to fast forward through commercials, the recording begins playback from the beginning. The counter on the progress bar shows a negative time based on how long Ive been watching. Ive got a recording set up tp start in 8 minutes as a test and to gather a log of the issue. Once the recording is 10 minutes into airing I will start it and try to fast forward while its still recording and post the log. I will also try to grab a screenshot of the progress bar. This happens on the Fire TV and my Android phone.
TylerV76 84 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Ok heres a log while using my android mobile and a screenshot to show the progress bar timer as well as the show starting over when I tried to scrub forward. I tried to fast forward about 4 minutes and it starts from the beginning. BTW this happens on 2 separate servers. server-63639764146.txt Edited August 31, 2017 by TylerV76

ebr 16187 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Okay, I just tested this and it worked fine for me. I started recording Steve Harvey about 10 minutes ago. Just now I started playing it from the recordings row. It started from the beginning (of where I started recording) and then I hit the FF button on the Fire remote a couple times and it jumped ahead to where it should have and continued playing. Are you using an external Live TV service or our internal Live TV?

Are you using an external Live TV service or our internal Live TV? By external vs internal do you mean emby's built in service vs something like nextpvr? Im only using emby, no plugins or other apps. This is on version .30 on a Fire TV. The clock starts counting backwards on the progress bar and any skips cause the show to start over. I rebooted the Fire TV and the server and had the same results. I then tried it on a separate server stored outside my home network and had the same results. In fact, my progress bar fills bright green and not like yours. Edited August 31, 2017 by TylerV76
ebr 16187 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 The progress bar should have two stages. The bright green is where you are currently viewing and the darker green is how much of the show has actually recorded. What version of the Fire TV app? I suppose there could be changes in beta affecting this but I don't think so (I'm on the latest dev version of course 1.4.46).

Mine looked like yours but not any longer. I will have to check my Fire TV version when I get home but I dont use any beta software so it should be the same as yours. I'll have to play around with everything this weekend and see if I can find any causes or solutions. I do use a designated folder on the dashboard for recordings instead of having the "recordings" default folder emby creates on the dashboard. I wouldnt think that would cause it but who knows. TylerV76 84 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Ok Ive restarted both servers, rebooted the fire tv and fire stick, changed dvr folder locations, checked apps and fire devices for updates and I still cant skip ahead on an active recording. It just restarts the recording at the beginning. The first image shows that negative on the progress bar as well. Also Emby 1.4.36a is the latest version in the Fire TV app store. TylerV76 84 Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 Well I got it fixed but it sucked really really bad. I had to completely uninstall both emby servers and start from scratch. Im currently rescanning a massive library but everything is working as it should. I think Im done with updates because the past 2 have really goofed my setup.

So what that probably did was just reset all of your settings to default... which probably undid a setting change you made that was affecting this. One that comes to mind is maybe disallowing transcoding for a user which would force us to deliver the item in a way that is not seekable.

I thought the same thing so I only installed one originally and compared it to the other install. All the settings appeared to be the same so Im not sure if I just missed something or what happened. Its working now so Im not going to be messing with anything anytime soon. Everythings finally perfect.
