Music Videos

Howdy!

 

I played around with music videos some years ago with Emby, and found that it seemed to be a royal pain to have to manually do all the metadata.

 

I am writing in just to ask, have there been any improvements to how Emby handles music videos? Mostly, If I have a folder structure like:

 

(folder) Artist ===> Music_Video.mkv

 

Will Emby know to grab metadata for the artist and maybe grab pictures/bio about them, or do I have to still do it manually?

Please please please sort this one out Devs. It would make the music side of the app awesome. You can set the library up as music videos and that's where it ends. I recall that there isn't a lot of music video metadata online but you don't need it. It is just an artist and a song title at the end of the day.

Music videos are seriously lacking support in EMBY.  As stated above, i also dont think we need to have meta providers that deal in just music videos to pull from.  Could easily just pull from the artist field.  When i have spare time i go to fanart and populate items that i do not have in my music library.  Usually i already have everything i need to make the music video section "look better" in my music library folders.  Copy and paste.  But this is a VERY time consuming process.  I also have my music video library set up as drive:\artist name\video name.  Artist info and posters / banners / backgrounds / logos would be spectacular!  Most of which would just be DUPLICATES for what is already in the music library.

 

I am happy to see that the "music video" category includes a shuffle option now.  Be happier when it is incorporated into the Roku app (along with the random shuffle all for music).

 

People that come to the house could / should see emby being used (generating interest in emby), but instead see the P word in use.  I have to explain WHY i think emby is superior, but why i am still using the later (for music and music videos).

I've been waiting on this, too. Having to put music videos in album structure is not a good idea. There are far less videos than songs. A folder with the artist name, containing their music videos, is what makes sense.
