Reinstall Server

I had an issue where Roku wasn't streaming.  I thought it was the firmware issue, but it turned out to be emby server.  Reinstalling didn't help, but putting on the latest beta did.  But it introduced a new issue where m2ts files are often playing out of order.  So I figure I'll go back to the standard builds, but I read that it isn't recommended to just do that.

It seems I should simply uninstall emby and install it again.  I take it by doing this, I'll have to rebuild the libraries and all the rest?  Possibly lose preferred images and such.

Are there best practices for reinstall?

@@drjonz Why did you think there was an issue with Emby Server? What are the two versions you are testing? The reason I'm asking is because there are zero differences between beta and stable right now. they are the exact same thing just with two different version numbers, so i think some of this might just be perception.

As always, we recommend seeing how to report a media playback issue. Thanks !

I suspect emby server beta because the out-of-order issue started only when I installed beta over standard a few nights ago.  Today I upgraded to 3.2.20.2 and it's still out of order.

Anyway, let's keep this thread about best practices for a reinstall.  If I find I still have some sort of out-of-order issue after reinstall, I'll happily start a new thread with logs.  Plus the Mrs. is going to prefer that I stay on the standard builds.   :)

If you uninstalled (all traces) and reinstalled then yes the library will have to rebuild.  You have to uninstall everything or delete all you plugins as there is usually a plugin compatibility issue within these builds.

As for images that depends on if images are with media or not.

You will want to ensure you use the Server Configuration Plugin to backup your "Users and User Playstate, Favorites, Resume, etc. - Select original user and user to import data into".

Thanks Happy.  I forgot all about that plugin!  It might help a little.  I guess this gives me a chance to move kids movies out to their own library and such.
