Transcoding temporary folder constantly gets filled

I've set Emby to use a 5GB ramdrive to use as the temporary transcoding folder. Of late I've found that that folder does not clean up properly, especially if I'm watching two or 3 episodes of something in a row. Playback would just suddenly stop and go to the loading screen but will never load. Shouldn't Emby delete temporary files every time it switches episodes?

Hi Luke,

Please see the attached log file from today. I cleared the temporary drive sometime this morning and it filled up while watching a sitcom this evening. I only realised halfway through the last episode I watched, I had to constantly stop and restart playback since it would only clear enough to transcode 4 minutes at a time each time I did that.

Does it have enough space for the entire transcode while you're watching? At the very least it will need that much.

Yes. When I check the files that actually fill up the folder it consists of parts of episodes previously watched.

So you were watching them all in sequence?

Yes. It doesn't have to be that scenario only though. Sometimes I'll be switching between episodes , or stopping an episode in the middle and watching something else on emby and then resume. Or jumping all over the place within one episode.

Now to think about it, sometimes I'll press the home button or power off the TV in the middle of playing something, essentially force ending the app. Could it be the server not handling cases like that correctly?

If you just turn off the TV while playing something, depending on some factors like your CEC settings, it is likely that playback will just continue on as if you were still watching.

Ok I'm not able to reproduce the problem but am continuing to test. The next server release will add more logging which may help us identify what's happening. thanks.
