Devices and subscription questions from Newby

I am a Newby to Emby and I am confused about why your service appears to work without a subscription on Apple TV and Roku, while Fire TV insist on a paid subscription after the two week trial. I'm not against paying a sub, but it doesn't seem fair the it's not across the board. I also don't understand why a lifetime membership doesn't include upgrades, again that doesn't seem fair.

Maybe I have misunderstood, but if someone could confirm this for me I would appreciate it.

So you'd like us to start charging for those other apps...?

 

The reason is usually that we had free apps available on those platforms previously and we don't want to start charging for something that we previously didn't.

Exactly what gave you that impression?  Here is the exact language from our terms document:

 

 

 

Lifetime Term: Lifetime shall mean the entire period in which the respective product, services, and/or features, as indicated below and updated from time to time, are offered for license.

 

We issue updates of the server and all the apps quite frequently and no one has had to pay for them.
