kanipek 230 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 For various reasons but mainly to simplify my life I am in the process of dumping Kodi from all my client machines. So far things are going well. 2 Android TV clients and 2 Win 10 Pro clients. Anyone else gone through this switch? Gladly except any tips, hints and help.
x-cimo 23 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I was using windows 10 with harmony remote, ir receiver and a argustv backend and kodi. It worked ok, kodi is a great software. But Windows is a really bad OS for tv. Switching between between app such as netflix on windows 10 or youtube was a hack. Also sometimes the PC would hang, not play sound to my receiver or had problem going to/from sleep mode. A PC is also bulky. Got myself a fast/many thread CPU to run Emby server; and I use a Nvidia shield + android tv app for the living room (its great!! I use chromecast in other location. I am waiting for the LG app to get rid of the chromecast because its limited to 10mbps (maybe the ultra is better for that). The other chromecast is in the kitchen and is going to stay there. Hopefully we will get support for the google home too. That would be great with all my android stuff. Because emby can stream anywhere you are that makes it much more convenient. 1
Tur0k 148 Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 I am also in the process of switching away from Kodi. For us most of the draw is having a single front end for home videos, audio books, music, movies, recorded tv shows, and live TV. We only have a handful of problems to address with ET: 1. We like the view for newly added items list in Kodi a bit more. 2. Kodi has the ability to render our 3D movies in 2D with the click of a button. 3. The live TV guide is sluggish to respond to arrow control. 4. My wife wants a real remote instead of the keyboard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Can you PM what remote(s) you know work with ET? (maybe a comprehensive list of ET keyboard commands also??) I am currently using a mini touchpad/keyboard type which works, but could be easier with a regular remote. I know you guys are busy I would appreciate it though.
