Missing Albums in Artist View

Recommended Posts

In all of my Emby clients (iPad, iPhone, web apps, FireTV), there are Albums missing when I go to an artist page. For example, I have four Band of Horses albums. All show up if I got to the Albums view. If I go into the Band of Horses Artist view, only one album shows. All songs still so in the the songs section. For other artists, no Albums are showing despite the fact that have Albums.

I have tried refreshing my music library. That did not help.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

What happens if you manually refresh one of those artists? thanks.

Refreshed Band of Horses at the Artist level from metadata manager. Now all Albums for Band of Horses are showing.

What is the best course now? I have hundreds of artists. Refresh at the Music (library) level?

Yes I would do that, thanks.

I tried refreshing at the "Artist" level in the library.  That did not seem do anything.  Its also hard to tell because there isn't sort of progress indicator.  But I did not notice any albums showing up that were not before.  I did a bit more testing:

Previously, Band of Horse had 1 of 5 albums showing.  I refreshed the Artist and now 5 of 5 albums show.

Al Green had 0 of 1 albums showing.  I refreshed the artist, still 0 of 1

Beatles had 0 of 9 albums showing.  I refreshed the artist, still 0 of 9

Lady Gaga had 1 of 4 albums showing.  I refreshed the artist, now 4 of 4 show.

Seems like there are either two different things at play here or something else.

Sorry, my mistake. can you try refreshing some of those albums? thanks.

That worked.  I refreshed the one Al Green album from Metadata Manager, and it now shows up.  I also refreshed one Beatles album from Metadata Manager, and it now shows up.

How should I go about refreshing all of these albums?  There are hundreds not showing up.

Try refreshing your music library, or you could use the multi-select tool to refresh multiple albums.

When you say "refreshing music library" do you mean selecting "Music" in Metadata Manager, clicking the "..." and selecting "Refresh Metadata" or going to Server > Libraries > Music and selecting "Scan Library"?

Also, how can use multi-select if the albums are not showing up in the Artist page?  I don't think I can do it from Metadata Manager.

Ok, well it appears that in all of this refreshing business, that now my artists are now longer showing up.  Of my 400 artists, less than 8 are showing in the Music views.  All of my artists show in the Metadata Manager.

I went into MM and did the following:

1) Refreshed metadata for a missing artist = no change, artist still missing in Artist view

2) Refreshed metadata for an album for a missing artist = artist now shows up in Artist view but only the refreshed album shows up.

3) Refreshed metadata for the above artist = all albums now show

Yes some parts of this are a two-step process which of course is seamless on the initial setup of Emby Server since everything happens together with the initial library scan. What you're doing to refresh the albums is fine. I think a library scan may be enough after those are complete.

so my only recourse is to refresh hundreds of artists and hundreds of albums manually, one by one?

no i would refresh your music library from the emby library setup area.
