Hi All,

Within the last two weeks most of my movie media consisting of both (.iso) and (Video_ts) folder structures stopped playing at the server console and of course a push to a DLNA device.  What happens when I click on a move to play is the movie primary image pops up within the IE window and sometimes I get the turning circle but most of the time it just does nothing.  If I refresh the IE page, I’m put back to the movie page I tried to play.

I’m looking for any assistance for a resolution as this just started to happen within the last two weeks and I’ve made no changes but add a few movies.  I’ve attached the server log if needed.  ,

Thanks,

Thanks for the direction and yes this possibly could be the issue as well.  Most all of my movies are in the VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB format and something I also don't want to change my video structure.  But just for a test I will combine this to a single file and see if it plays.

Thanks for the support.  :)

OK, so combining the 5 (.VOB) files into a single (.VOB) file and then moving the single (.VOB) file into the root of the movie folder DID work.

Just to test this further and prove it’s the VIDEO_TS folder that is causing the issue and not several (VOB) files, I created a (VIDEO_TS) folder and moved the now working single (.VOB) file within the VIDEO_TS folder structure and it failed.

Folder structure that worked is:

d:\media\Alien Covenant\Alian Covenant.vob

Folder structure that failed is:

d:\media\Alien Covenant\VIDEO_TS\Alian Covenant.vob

From my testing, It would appear that any media containing the (VIDEO_TS) folder structure is currently unreadable by Emby Server.  This includes (.ISO) files which contain the (VIDEO_TS) folder structure within them.

I don’t know how new or widespread this issue is although I would expect Emby to put a information notice on their support page so we can be aware of these kind of issues.

In closing I do have to say, I realize things like this happen but still I love your product and because of it, I am a lifetime member.  I’ve tried many products but Emby rocks.  Keep up the awesome enhancements and integrations with 3rd party features.

Let us know when a fix is ready.

Thank you,

hi @bp media, this has been resolved for the next release of Emby Server, however, I think it is important to set your expectations appropriately when it comes to transcoding of folder rip structures. We only consider this experimental, and it has always been this way. While you can continue on using this experimental feature, for the best experience possible we recommend converting to plain video files. Thanks !

Thanks for that feedback.  Would you be able to provided some examples of what plain video files would be?

Thanks,

The majority convert to mkv format.

I've done this before with hundreds of ripped movie folders.  Your best bet is to get MakeMKV then go into the forums for MakeMKV and find a tool called BatchMKV.  With BatchMKV you can select the root folder of where your folder rips are and it will scan them and create mkv files out of them without having to manually do it for every movie you have.  The BatchMKV settings allows you to select which language tracks (audio/subtitle) to keep as well as setting default and forced flags, etc...

Give it a try, that's just what i remember off the top of my head.
