alphabanks 0 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I have a media library with about 700 movies it seems that I am having problems with Emby completing the scan. All of my data is on a separate file server. Emby is literally taking hours to scan in my movies. Is this normal if not how do I correct this problem?
chef 3810 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 (edited) The first time emby creates a database by scaning your media it will take for what seems like forever to complete. However after the initial scans, it will not take long at all. Best ting to do is allow emby to work its magic, an let the scan complete. Even if it is hours or a day later. Deathsquirrel 745 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Make sure that when you set your libraries up you don't check the box that says to 'Extract chapter images during the library scan' as that massively increases initial scan times. You can check this setting on an existing library by clicking the context menu for the library and selecting Manage Folders. The setting is at the very bottom of the box that will pop up.
alphabanks 0 Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 It's complete with the movie scan I'm now about to add tv shows. I did not check that option I read about that extending scan times before I created the library.
Luke 42086 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 The first scan can take a little time, yes. If you can provide the emby server log then we can offer some advice on how to improve it. You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
