Hello all!

I just wanted to give you guys and gals at Emby a hearty job well done! Just the other day, I finally let go of Subsonic and now Emby is my one-stop media center solution. For the most part, the main transition went pretty smoothly, I think for two reasons: required directory structure was similar, and pre-existing ID3v2 tags.

However, I have noticed some odd behavior when I try caching an album onto my Android phone and then playing it back (specifically only playing the first song and that's it). But instant mixes seem to work great. Either way, the former is an issue for the Android forum. Artist bios were missing as well until I enabled TheAudioDB, but now I can only do bio refreshes one at a time (this exact issue is noted here). I've also noticed that when playing via BT-A in my car the album title sometimes gets mixed up with the artist.

Subsonic was great at what it did and DSub for Android was great too, but it didn't make much sense to have both on the same box taking up resources. I chose to stick with Emby for a few reasons. Among them:

-Great work being done.

-Open source. (unlike Subsonic after 6.0)

-Good documentation.

-Responsive.

Basically, I believe in you guys and gals, and in the project. I hope to make some code contributions too as I am a former software (now DevOps) engineer, mostly C# and bedrock Web stuff. I was a former Plex user but I love the power Emby gives you especially to customize data.

My general view back in the day was that Subsonic was great with music and Emby with movies. It was high time I explored more of Emby's capabilities. And it hasn't disappointed.

Well done everybody. And long live Emby!

hi @@landgazr, welcome. I know you've been a member here for a while so I'm glad to see you're going all in.

Just to comment quickly on the album downloading - a long time ago I was a subsonic user and i really enjoyed the automatic play and save music feature that would automatically save the offline copy as you streamed. It is something I am very much interested in adding. Thanks !

Yeah that was my favorite feature about Subsonic. Very nice to hear you'd like to implement something similar!
