ratbrain 0 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 (edited) Recently installed windows 10 on a laptop and also installed EMBY for windows I have EMBY server running on another machine I can not get skip forward and back working on MKV file. The forward function seems to work to increase the speed of playback but the skip 30 seconds forward or 8 seconds backward do not work. Ive been tinkering with codes and settings. but nothing seems to work. Sorry for starting another topic on playback, but none of the searches on MKV and skip not working really did not produce a definitive workaround. Really prefer EMBY over KODI as it seems so polished, but no skip function is a deal breaker.... Luke 42080 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I notice in your logs it is using the emby http server to obtain the file. this is happening because the Emby for WMC app does not have direct access to this location: \\\\SERVER1200\\HDTVmovies2\\alien.covenant (2017)\\Alien.Covenant.2017.1080p.BluRay.x264-SPARKS.mkv If you can correct this then it will direct play and your seek should work perfectly.

Luke 42080 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 The best way to start is by opening windows explorer from the client machine and verifying that you can browse to this file: \\\\SERVER1200\\HDTVmovies2\\alien.covenant (2017)\\Alien.Covenant.2017.1080p.BluRay.x264-SPARKS.mkv If you can't, then you need to adjust your network sharing.
ratbrain 0 Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 I C. new to windows 10. network discovery and sharing werent turned on. Fixed that. however, still no skip forward or backward. the only thing i noticed was the specific time code when i now hover over the time bar. attaching new log

ebr 16185 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Looks like your network problem is now fixed but you now have to get your configuration of WMC and codecs correct. Since you are using Windows 10 that is going to take some degree of hacking since WMC is not officially supported on that OS. Have you considered using Emby Theater instead?

Luke 42080 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 It will auto-update this weekend when we release a new stable. If you want the beta for an immediate fix then you will need to install that manually later today once it is available.
ebr 16185 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 But be aware, once on beta, you will pretty much need to stay on it or be sure to re-install the stable release from the website as soon as the next one is out to reset your update level.
