BajaPaul 2 Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 (edited) I too had my W10 start service vanish after Fall Creators Update and/or Server 3.2.34.0 update. I do not know which. After a quick search I found NSSM and was considering trying that approach and then found this Wiki by Luke "Running Emby Server as a Windows Service." https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Running%20Emby%20Server%20as%20a%20Windows%20Service So that is what I did and all works well again for now. I have HTPC set up on boot to sign into a open standard user account that requires no login and then Emby Sever start automatically. Emby Server is installed under another administrator account so option in Sever to auto start does not work until I logged into that account. Hope every big Windows Update every 6 months doesn't keep wiping this out. That could be a pain. PS: NSSM Update: 2017-04-26: Users of Windows 10 Creators Update should use prelease build 2.2.4-101 to avoid an issue with services failing to start. Edited October 26, 2017 by BajaPaul
Luke 42077 Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Yes make sure you're using the latest NSSM, thanks.
drashna 47 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 (edited) Using NSSM is a hack. You can actually reinstall the service, as it was before by running: c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.30319\installutil.exe "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe" This re-adds the service, precisely as it was originally installed. You'd need to reconfigure it, as per normal. This would be the official and documented way to install .NET services: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/windows-services/how-to-install-and-uninstall-services Edited October 27, 2017 by drashna

Once the stable release is replaced with the .NET core version, this will no longer be possible.
drashna 47 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Good to know then. Time to export registry the... just in case.
