Migrate Server to new machine

Tonight I decided to migrate my Emby server (Windows) to another computer.

I followed the instructions here:  https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Backup

I made sure I did a server backup just before the migration, to make sure I had the most up to date backup.

I installed a new copy of Emby Server on the new computer.  Before I did a restore I also installed my Emby Premier key on the new server.

After that I then installed the Server Configuration Backup plugin, rebooted, then imported the last backup.  Rebooted again.

I then had to rescan my libraries, and also refreshed the Guide data (I have three HD Homerun tuners).

Everything seemed to migrate over EXCEPT none of my scheduled/series recording settings came over.  Nothing at all, and I have quite a few of them.

So I gave it an hour or so while the wife and I watched some TV in the other room.  Still nothing when I came back.  So I looked at the folder tree on the older server and found a folder called "Owner\AppData\Roaming\ Emby-Server\data"  Inside this folder were several folders, including one called LIVETV.  Inside this folder were two files called "seriestimers.json and "timers.json".  This looked promising.  When I compared the folder tree on the new server to the old server I found this folder did not exist.  So I copied this folder from the old server to the new server and then brought the server back up and all my scheduled & series recordings came back!  I wasn't looking forward to having to enter them all back in.

So my question is ... did I do something wrong in the process, or is this a bug in the Server Configuration Backup plugin, in that it fails to back up the LIVETV folder?

Thanks.

I don't believe it currently is part of the backup plugin.

Hmm, apparently it isn't.  Until it becomes part of the backup plugin I think I will use a batch file to back up the folder in the early AM.  It's kind of an important file  :)

I would suggest this information be included on the migration help page on github, so if someone does migrate their server they are aware they will have to copy over the LIVETV folder manually.

That hasn't been added yet but is definitely something we should add, thanks.
