How to STOP (NOT CANCEL) a recording

I have a question regarding STOPPING a recording, after it has started.

A typical situation is this ... I schedule a recording for a football game, and I set it to record an additional 60 minutes in case the game goes into overtime.  However, the game ends on time and I don't want to have it record the extra hour.  How do you just STOP the recording without DELETING it?

In the last couple of days I have had three situations come up where I wanted to STOP a recording, but keep what it has recorded so far.  In all of the situations I can only find an option "Cancel Recording".  I checked several places in Emby, using both  Windows and Android TV clients.  When I click on "Cancel Recording" I get a warning, and I acknowledge it and tell Emby to go ahead.  Out of the three times I did this, two times the entire recording just disappeared, while one time the balance of the recording was still there.  It seemed to be a crapshoot as to weather or not Emby just plain deleted the whole thing.

STOP RECORDING = End the recording and save what has been recorded up to that point.

CANCEL RECORDING = End the recording and delete the whole thing, like it never happened

So I need to ask ... is STOPPING a recording supported in Emby, or is CANCEL the only option?  If STOPPING is supported, WHERE do I go in an EMBY client to do it?  The GUIDE?  Recordings?  Schedule?

Thanks.

Hi, it should always be a stop. The button just needs to be renamed.

Are you using Emby native live tv or a plugin?

Native.

Saturday:  Set a recording for a football game, +60 minutes.  Ended up watching the final few minutes, so I went to stop the recording.  I think I was in the Windows client.  Clicked Cancel, recording stopped, partial recording kept.

Sunday:  Set a recording for an auto race, + 60 minutes.  Watched the end of the race, didn't need the extra 60 minutes.  Used Windows client, clicked cancel, entire recording (3 hours) disappeared.  Verified by looking directly at the NAS.  The entire file/folder for that event was gone.

Well, damn ... I just ran two tests and each time I did a cancel, the recording stopped and the partial was left untouched.  I did this using Emby Theater on Windows.

I will run a couple more tests from an Android client ... and I will also check to see if there is a problem only when you have a recording that is set to go xx number of minutes after the program ends and you cancel the recording during this "overtime" period.

And, yes, the I agree the button should say "Stop" instead of "Cancel".  :)

Please try again with the next release of Emby Server, thanks.

I tested it again today while running Emby Server 3.2.28.5 beta.  The test was to set a recording for a 30 minute program, with 30 minutes extra.  Approximately 15 minutes after the program was over (15 minutes into the extra time), using Emby Theater for Windows I clicked on Cancel and it stopped recording and left the balance of the recording untouched.

So at this point everything seems to be working correctly, although using the term "Stop Recording" might be better suited for this function than "Cancel Recording".
