Is there a way to setup Emby to share/live stream the Eclipse on Monday 8/21?

We're a school district and I'm sure that Monday's live streaming options by nasa and such will cripple our internet. Is there a way to share a single live stream via EMBY for all our staff/student/teachers to view the livestream with an IPTV plugin or such?

We'd also probably use it for Eagle cams/Giraffe births/etc.

Edit: don't see a way to edit the title - cross post from Plex forum.  Hoping Emby can do this... Plex can't.

This is an EMBY forum.  For help with Plex you should visit a Plex forum.

Yep you're right... how about doing it with Emby?  If that wasn't painfully obvious - the concept is the same, just a cross post...

There is a plugin called IPTV. You can put your url to share it among all of your Emby users.

BUT, today I don't think that it is creating a single broadcasting node that can be shared with multiple local users.

So that will only let them connect to their own copy of the live stream, still sucking up all the bandwidth from the internet side, right?

What about if I were to get an HD Homerun - can that stream a live TV station via web browser?  That'd be avoiding the internet then...

Are you planning to do this with in your own network? If yes, an hdhomerun will not use your internet. If you're sending outside of your network, that will use your upstream bandwidth.

Yes school district - looking to broadcast internally only.

That could work, then. You'd need to make sure your network is properly configured. As it's a school district, I imagine there are many protocols in place. But yes, that would not use your internet bandwidth.

Yes, with a HD Homerun you can use Emby, or their apps which are available for Android, iOS and Windows.

On a completely different note.  My daughter's school won't even let the kids outside for the 2 hours it's viewable in our state.  Their cafeteria is in another bullding, so they are bringing the food over to the main building and feeding them in their classrooms.

I can understand watching streams if you're in Southern California, or New York or something, but we're in Colorado, the path of totality isn't too far from us, and we will still get a good view of things here.  I think it's ridiculous that they won't allow kids to experience a once in a lifetime event like this.  I'm actually keepgin my daughter home from school and we will sit on our roof and watch it.  I remember seeing the eclipse on my birthday in 1984, and it's something I'll never forget.

This raises a good question, actually. How many streams can you have off one tuner? Is there a limit?

This is understandable, however, since there is no way they can ensure the children would view it safely.  Imagine the liability...
