drixtab 0 Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Constantly getting this notification indicating... "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden." Is this something that is expected? Log file attached. Thanks!
Luke 42079 Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 No, it sounds like your machine is having trouble reaching out domain. You'll want to ensure that nothing is blocking the traffic such as firewall or security software.
stick 0 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 i am having this problem but windows fire wall is not blocking could there be another reasons for this.
Luke 42079 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Can you provide the emby server log? you can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
Luke 42079 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 If you try again now, does it still happen?
ebr 16184 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 thanks It very much looks like a Firewall of some sort is blocking your server from external access. Here is the same failure against a GitHub url: 2017-09-19 17:30:39.329 Error HttpClient: Error ProtocolError getting response from https://api.github.com/repos/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases *** Error Report *** Version: 3.2.30.0 Command line: C:\Users\kcmcc\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.2.9200.0 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Processor count: 8 Program data path: C:\Users\kcmcc\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server Application directory: C:\Users\kcmcc\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\System System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.
Luke 42079 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Unfortunately it is hard to tell but in addition to firewall on your side, it could also be that we're hitting our github api limits. For the next release we'll increase the caching periods and see if that helps with this. Thanks.
stick 0 Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Ok I do not have any virus protection or anything just a server I do run a Plex server would this cause the problem if so something has changed and also I actually have two separate servers running emby would this cause a issue.thanks

We're looking into it, thanks.
Luke 42079 Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Do I need to reinstall emby No, certainly not. But what you can do right now is install the latest version from the website.
stick 0 Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 how do i manually install a update.thanks
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 how do i manually install a update.thanks Easiest way us just reinstall from website, no settings will be lost. Just ensure your server is shutdown.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 There is definately something wrong looking at the version number in screenshot. I guess get the update manually. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases/tag/3.2.32.0 Assuming your on windows, get the "emby.windows.zip". Extract the system folder and put it in your server installation folder replacing previous system folder. I would rename old system folder.
stick 0 Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 ok thanks i am running the current version now. thanks
ebr 16184 Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 when i try i get this. This is another symptom of your server not being able to get out to some sites on the net. Re-installing is not going to solve that so you're going to have to hunt down the network configuration to allow the communications.
stick 0 Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 how can i find what is doing this i have emby on two different machines same issue on both.thanks for the help

Luke 42079 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 @@stick, sorry, I accidentally deleted your post. however i will repeat it here: anyone
Luke 42079 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Right now I'm not sure unfortunately. There is some kind of general connectivity problem in your network environment that is preventing access to both our domain as well as api.github.com.
stick 0 Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Great news sense this last update everything working great no failed updates check looks good thanks for all the help
