Using codec profiles correctly

Hi. How can I tell that my profile being used in a DLNA device correctly does what I believe it does?

I mean... I think that the config of those tabs is kind of a pain. I was trying to force that my LG WebOS TV would transcode AC3 to AAC instead of trying to play it directly... because this makes the video not to run.

I removed all mentions of "ac3" in the profile currentle being used...and nothing happened.

Please don't come here to say "do you know the correct profile is being used?" . Because I rename all custom profile so a specific name appear at each device's screen. So I'm 100% sure I'm using a custom profile.

So... if I wan't to ban AC3 for my LG... what exactly do I have to do?

Thanks!

Right now you have to monitor the server log file, it's the only way.

I believe there have to be simpler ways. Why can't I just say : no AC3 for this profile or for this device, and server knows that it has to transcode to something else?

Doing that would also make the Devices list actually useful: "this device DLNA doesn't understand AC3 but loves AAC natively." So emby can make smart decisions.

The actual screens of codecs parameters in profile are very confusing. I can't be sure exactly what each field is for. Nobody at the screen explains well enough

because it's almost always more complex than that. it's never just ac3, it usually depends on the video container as well.
