Mopar_Mudder 14 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I just installed the server and am trying to access it from another computer using explorer through the http://server:8096/mediabrowser When I do that I get a grey screen that says "media folders". When I click that I get anther window that says "backdrop" , "Sort" & "Filter" That is it I see nothing else, I am guessing this isn't right?

Mopar_Mudder 14 Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 This computer that I can't get into the web GUI with is on the same local network as the server, it is only 5 feet away. The fact that part of the screen shows up seems to indicate that it is getting something? I can get in the GUI from my computer at work that comes into the router by way of a VPN connection between work and home, have not tried getting in through the WAN address.
ebr 16178 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Okay, sorry, you said "Remote" so I assumed that meant off-local network.
Sammy 790 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I'm having the same issue with the 2/24 server upgrade and it also keeps asking to be restarted to complete the installation even though I have restarted the server and the PC several times.
Mopar_Mudder 14 Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Just wanted to update that I have tried both the internal and external IP address and both give me the same partial MB screen. Seems it is something specific to this PC that it is not downloading or showing the site correctly. It is IE11 same as my other computer that works.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Does the firewall on your Server machine have ports 8096 and 8945 open to both incoming and outgoing in TCP? Review your firewall rules. If you don't have a firewall installed, you would be using Windows Firewall. http://www.howtogeek.com/112564/how-to-create-advanced-firewall-rules-in-the-windows-firewall/

If you don't have a firewall installed, you would be using Windows Firewall. http://www.howtogeek.com/112564/how-to-create-advanced-firewall-rules-in-the-windows-firewall/ I can access it fine from another computer, so I don't think it could be a firewall setting. These are the two screens I can get at. Server is using Windows Fire wall and both ports are listed as allow. Edited February 26, 2014 by Mopar_Mudder
ebr 16178 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Can you install chrome and try it just to see if it is an IE problem? Also, make sure your Windows Updates are completely up.

Hate it install things that I don't want, might look into it.I'm the same .... have you heard of portableapps.com ? They have modified versions of apps that run in portable mode on a USB stick so it doesn't need to be installed and leaves no trace on your computer when removed
Mopar_Mudder 14 Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 I tried Chrome and it does work. Any idea what setting or something in IE could be causing the issue?
Luke 42078 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I've seen some people have issues with IE due to security settings. Also makes sure it's IE 10+
