I wouldn't see why not. As long as you're not trying to run the server software and just Theater you should be fine. The SSD isn't even necessary unless you just happen to have a spare around. At most I would say maybe add some more RAM but isn't that always the case? :)

I would recommend at least doubling the RAM. ET has some video hardware acceleration features that might work with the on-board video. You may end up needing a cheap slimline expansion graphics card to get it purring.

 

An SSD will be nice for disk read/writes (shouldn't really matter to ET) and boot time.

I ordered two, I have an extra SSD and one from the failing computer. I'll look into the ram and video card but would be happy if I could get by without. Guess I'll find out when they show up.... Thanks for the advice.

So I got them today and it did not even dawn on me to look before buying but no HDMI. It does have a display port. So opinions on if I could get away with the display port to hdmi adapter or should I look for a cheap video card? Recommendations on a compatible (cheap) card if so?
