bluc 21 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Hey keep getting access denied errors while trying to add network shares to server because my network is password protected. Is there somewhere I can enter the network password? I have tried to disable password protected shares in network advanced options but does not seem to make any difference. Any ideas?
AdrianW 1058 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 If you're running the server on Windows 8 - search for "Manage Windows Credentials", you can enter your username and password there.
bluc 21 Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Just added a generic certificate but still not working "access denied" Windows 8.1 on server and client. I can access the share fine from the server just not through media browser server

bluc 21 Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 No I used a different user account ( but on the share i allowed everyone access)for the server will set server back up with main PC username password. See if I can access shares Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
A8HTPC 38 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) In Windows 7, if I had an issue with network share access, I would remove any saved credentials, if there is none, I would make sure there are no mapped drives. Then I would remap the share with the user name and password, Windows will ask you for the user and pass and made sure to check "Remember Credentials". I haven't used Windows 8 much but I can only think its very similar in this area. This was before I started using MBT Edited February 25, 2014 by A8HTPC
bluc 21 Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Ok have tried removing credentials have also deleted the original user and made the user to match my main server user and no difference still getting access denied.when trying to access network shares.
bluc 21 Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 updated to the latest version and problem is fixed cheers.

Beardyname 198 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Hi! I'm running Media Browser Server on Ubuntu and I can't access shares on samba share which are user and passowrd protected. How do I setup server so I can input username and password? you could locally mount them in ubuntu and add them that way, and then in the server setup path substitution (/mnt/drive --> \\servername\sharename)
