PhAzE 17 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I have used some other metadata downloader apps and noticed that on occasion, i might get two trailers, each with the same file name but different file extensions. Say -trailer.mov and -trailer.mp4. I think it would be nice to have the server dected multiple copies and let the user select which to use or have the ability to delete duplicate files if found in the same directory. Or even a way for the server to remove all files that are not linked in with the server in a sub directory, like a clean up database option. 1
ginjaninja 605 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 A crc check for every image fetched from sources and on file system would be able to identify duplicates between sources..de orphan images in library not linked to sources and identify local content not from an internet fetcher source..thus the current messy situation of multiple identical backdrops..tidied up. Might require tierred storage setting to avoid the function using up precious ssd space in the current caching function for tvdb and tmdb. Plex suffers fron this ie storing all source images on primary single program data area. 1
ebr 16177 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 A crc check for every image fetched from sources and on file system would be able to identify duplicates between sources.. I don't think it would. Just because it is the same image visually doesn't mean it is the exact same file.
chef 3810 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 EmguCV would be able to detect the same images. But that would need to be a plugin. @@ebr do you guys know about emguCV?
ginjaninja 605 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) I don't think it would. Just because it is the same image visually doesn't mean it is the exact same file.Worth noting that the primary messy ness is not so much different files which look similar but identical files. and rebuilds of a library without tags in xml to identify source for backdrop. Crc checking might deal the lions share of current issue around clean backdrop metadata. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk Edited March 20, 2014 by ginjaninja
