vletroye 6 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hi, As I experience some issue with MB3 on my new HTPC (unable to play the movies - never had such an issue in the past) I am trying various tricks. I suspect some issue with the access rights and wanted to move all the server's data from C:\users\myAdminAccount\... to C:\users\Public\... Using the dashboard, I can define a custom path for the images, the cache, the transcoding... But I don't find where to define the pat for the logs ?! Also, I didn't find that setting in the configuration file of the server ?? Where may I change that path ? Also, I see a lot of errors (not fatal as far as I can see): 2014-02-24 21:11:26.8703 Error - HttpServer: Error processing request for /mediabrowser/Images/General/ ......... /Primary?maxWidth=350&Quality=90 Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\Public\MediaBrowser\Images\general\ ..... \folder.png'. ServiceStack.HttpError No Stack Trace Available I get this error for at least ........ = Favorites, Music Albums, Music By Genre. Did I break something when I have defined my custom path for the Images ??? (Notice I have also disabled the menu Favorites, Music Albums and Music By Genre in my theme). V.
ebr 16169 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 The logs can't be moved. Why do you want to? That wouldn't have anything to do with your access issues. You will need to have your media accessible over the network for MBC to be able to play it. Use the new path substitution feature to define network accessible paths to your local ones (e.g. D:\Movies --> \\machinename\sharename\Movies).
ebr 16169 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 The errors you pointed out in the log are harmless. Just MBC looking for custom images and there are none.
vletroye 6 Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Ok... Thx. I wanted to move most of the data file into a "Public" folder to get access to those files with any account.. not only with the account used to install MB3. And to be sure that access rights would not be an issue... I also thought that the movies were possibly accessed only by the server part... and then streamed to the Client (this one ignoring the actual path of the file). So to conclude: only the server part needs to be granted access on the folders "images", "cache" and "transcoding". But both the server part and the client part must be running with accounts granted access on the folders containing the movies... Fixing this, I was almost done... Only still had one user account not able to play movies. And I did solve the problem by deleting this account, recreating a new one with adhoc access rights (which was still not enough to be able to play all movies)... and I did reset the codecs (via K-Lite Codec Pack configuration tool). And now, everything runs fine !!
