The Baron 64 Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Greetings all, I purchased a new disk and moved some folders to it, containing TV shows. I then deleted the relevant existing pre-existing folders. I then in turn, created a new folder on the new drive and adding that folder to the tv shows libraries, in EMBY. Now, the newly moved tv show folders are listed as shows themselves. For example, I have a crime folder, with (obviously) crime series. The server is seeing this crime folder as a show, not as a folder. In the Metadata manager, there is no drop-down menu to change the folder type so it correctly identifies the folder and the shows it contains. Example of library schema : disk\tv shows\crime\series1\season1 \series2\season1 What the server is showing is a particular crime show with about a 142 seasons, rather than as a Folder called crime containing tv shows. I removed the offending tv folder from the library, in EMBY and did a rescan, in the Metadata manager, the folder was no longer visible. I then re-added the folder to the TV libraries and scanned again, once again, there was no option to change the content type, the issue was the same as previously. What can I do to get the server to allow me to define the content type on the relevant folders? Cheers, Andy
Luke 42080 Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Hi, why not instead just set up a tv library with this as the folder: disk\tv shows\crime
The Baron 64 Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 This will not work, unfortunately. The server is seeing this 'crime' folder as a tv series, rather than a containing folder. And I do not have the option to change the folder type to inform it that this is a tv folder, rather than a tv series. I can create a new folder, in explorer, within a tv library folder, I do not get the content type drop-down to choose the type.
The Baron 64 Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 Below is the issue seen in Metadata manager. Taken from a test server I set up. In it I have a TV library. I have a folder called TVSHOWS selected as the library folder. In that there is a folder called SCIENCE FICTION. And in that I have a tv show. In metadata manager, in none of the folders, the content type dropdown is present.
The Baron 64 Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 One other thing, in the above example the issue remains as before. The server interprets the 'SCIENCE FICTION' folder as a show, rather than a containing folder. Any folder in the SCIENCE FICTION folder is deemed a season.
The Baron 64 Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 As an aside, if I create an Unset library, the content type menu is available in sub-folders, as expected. Once again, in a TV library, the drop down is not available.
The Baron 64 Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 Alright, every one rest easy, I worked out what the resolution to my travails was. For those of you who are still reading, because there was no context menu in a TV library, I could not use the Library setup as before. Which was: Physical disk \Shared folder (TV library entry point was selected against this folder) \Folder \TV Shows \Seasons Now: Physical disk \Shared folder \Folder (TV library entry point now) \TV Shows \Seasons When the library is set as above I do not have the issue where TV shows are seen as seasons. Previously, I would have set the shared folder as a 'TV' folder from the context menu, as that is not possible, I need to do the above.

It's seeing crime as a tv series because you added the parent folder as your library folder. Instead just use the crime folder.
The Baron 64 Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Yep, you were indeed correct. It was previous habits that prevented my TV shows from being scanned correctly by the server. Previous library injection point: Physical disk \Shared folder (TV library entry point was selected against this folder) \Folder \TV Shows \Seasons Now: Physical disk \Shared folder \Folder (TV library entry point now) \TV Shows \Seasons
