Triplefun 1 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 With Version 3.0.5168.16132 I am getting a NEW .xml file added in my media directory For each one of my media files I have NOT se the 'save images within media folders' Although I don't think this field has any bearing on the .xml file location Is there any way I can keep the .xml file out of my media directories ?
Luke 42077 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Yea go to the metadata configuration section and uncheck the Media Browser Xml metadata saver. Note that it will not remove files that have already been saved.
wallaceff 3 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I have found this aswell. What is the purpose of these files? Any downside to unchecking the box mentioned above and deleting them?
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 The downside is that if your server crashes, you will need to refresh all your metadata from the Internet. If you're on a limited connection, this can eat your bandwidth. With the XML files, you can rebuild your library's metadata without visiting the Internet. The XML files, along with XBMC .nfo files, make your system compatible with other media systems as well.
