HaraldBluetooth 21 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 (edited) Hi, I have many mkv files with 5.1 DTS audio and it has never been a problem to play these to Chromecast / Chromecast Ultra. Up to now ffmpeg has always in my setup transcoded the audio part to 5.1 AC3. But the last couple of days there has been no sound from mkv files with DTS audio. My server version is 3.2.26.17 beta, and the Chromecast Ultra is connected to a Denon AVR-1611 (European Model) 5.1 surround receiver. Here an example of such a movie: General Unique ID : 231428419065337481818857794542170551678 (0xAE1B7E028624A58DA0ED41422180357E) Complete name : I:\Film\The Ottoman Lieutenant (2017)\The.Ottoman.Lieutenant.2017.720p.BluRay.x264-ROVERS.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 4 / Version 2 File size : 4.36 GiB Duration : 1 h 50 min Overall bit rate : 5 638 kb/s Encoded date : UTC 2017-07-24 19:44:18 Writing application : mkvmerge v13.0.0 ('The Juggler') 64bit Writing library : libebml v1.3.4 + libmatroska v1.4.5 Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 5 frames Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 1 h 50 min Bit rate : 4 132 kb/s Width : 1 280 pixels Height : 536 pixels Display aspect ratio : 2.40:1 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.251 Stream size : 3.19 GiB (73%) Writing library : x264 core 152 r2851 ba24899 Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=5 / deblock=1:-3:-3 / analyse=0x3:0x113 / me=umh / subme=8 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.25 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=24 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=-4 / threads=17 / lookahead_threads=2 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / bluray_compat=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=2 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=3 / weightb=1 / open_gop=0 / weightp=2 / keyint=240 / keyint_min=24 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=50 / rc=2pass / mbtree=1 / bitrate=4132 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=69 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:0.75 Default : Yes Forced : No Audio ID : 2 Format : DTS Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Mode : 16 Format settings, Endianness : Big Codec ID : A_DTS Duration : 1 h 50 min Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 1 509 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 93.750 FPS (512 spf) Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 1.17 GiB (27%) Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Menu 00:00:00.000 : en:00:00:00.000 00:09:08.214 : en:00:09:08.214 00:18:02.999 : en:00:18:02.999 00:23:44.423 : en:00:23:44.423 00:32:11.429 : en:00:32:11.429 00:44:42.597 : en:00:44:42.597 00:52:37.321 : en:00:52:37.321 00:59:14.259 : en:00:59:14.259 01:08:23.683 : en:01:08:23.683 01:18:09.727 : en:01:18:09.727 01:26:48.912 : en:01:26:48.912 01:34:48.850 : en:01:34:48.850 01:43:37.211 : en:01:43:37.211 server-63637870587.txt Edited August 9, 2017 by HaraldBluetooth
HaraldBluetooth 21 Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 (edited) I think this is related to Chrome / Chromecast. When I play the same file in Emby / Chrome, then Emby also is reporting direct play and no sound. When I open Emby in Edge, the audio part is converted to AAC and Emby reports direct streaming, as it should and there is sound. My systeminfo: Windows 10 version 1703 OS build 15063.483 Chrome 60.0.3112.90 64 bit Emby 3.2.26.19 beta Edited August 10, 2017 by HaraldBluetooth
