jscoys 147 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Hello guys! I really need a way to auto logon a particular account on my ET. I have two accounts, one for me (IPad, iPhone...) and one for ET on my HTPC... The account on HTPC is more "all public" because I have some filters on it to forbid access to some movies because I don't want children to have access to. My personal account is totally opened, so I can watch what I want. At night I login on ET with my personal account in order to have my customize environment, retrieve last position I stopped playback during the day etc... But on tomorrow morning I don't want my children to access my personal account, and even if I can force to log every time ET is starting, I think it's a pain in the ass for children to do that... So is there a solution for that? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
darkassassin07 652 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 If you 'enable in-network sign in with my easy pin code' under profile settings of the user and leave the pin code blank, you can login without a password at home, and still have a password to prevent external access. I believe that's the closest you can get to what you are looking for with current features. 1

MEB 27 Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 The app already auto logs in by default. In order for this not to happen you have to explicitly disable it on the login screen I believe what he's saying is he wants a default (child friendly) account to log in automatically after a set amount of time or set time, so he can walk away and not worry about his (adult) account being logged in. The auto login feature so it's easier for the kids. Much like the Android TV version that has a auto log out which can't be disabled for some reason. This would be a great family friendly feature, better would be a feature to lock certain rated content which would require a PIN to play, that way we could just keep using a single account, unless you have some really explicit cover art. On another note I would love to be able to set the ratings on the screensaver since it shows some graphic images from horror movies. 1

Hey! +1 for the PIN individual item protection, did think about it! To clarify my needs : - In ET options, we can define an "auto-login" account and define the password associated. So for my needs I will define the account "family". - Every time I start ET the account (Family) is auto-logged and we automatically arrive on the main page, without having to enter any password - In ET, I decide to logout and login with my personal account, the "adult" one let's say... to watch my movies - I then close ET, launch it again and then it logs automatically on family account, no need to enter password... it's the same feature as Windows finally So no matters what account I used before I exit ET, the account I specify in ET options is auto-logged when I start ET Is it more clear? We have designed our parental control around users so that is how it works. The PIN method you suggest is usually used when a system doesn't have the concept of users. So, the original request to have some sort of auto logout and default login user would accomplish what you need within the design of our current parental control system.
jscoys 147 Posted August 11, 2017 Author Posted August 11, 2017 Ok thx EBR, I've already got a script that I launch every time I start ET. This script does some stuff for SVP purposes and then launch ET right after. So I will find the file containing the current auto-login feature in ET directory, copy it right after I auto-log with my "Family" account and then save it somewhere. In my script I will add the copy/paste and overwrite of this file to the ET directory and then ask to replace it. So no matter the account I'm actually logged-in when I quit ET, the file copied/pasted and overwritten will ensure me that "Family" account is always the one chosen when my ET starts... So nothing needed on your side! I just have to find the right file now ;-) Thx for your help!
Luke 42077 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 You're not going to be able to find that just fyi. Instead just use the UI and check the box "remember me" during the login process. Thanks.

But that doesn't do what he wants. He doesn't want the last user remembered. He wants the same user logged in every time. That way, his kids never get his account because he was the last one to use it. 1
