Hi there.

Tested MediaBrowser3 Server 3.x (feb-20-2014) with DVDFab full DVD .iso backups (nothing left behind).

The Server can not handle these DVD structures and shows titles that are not the consern.

Why do not the Server scan the .iso DVD video for lengths, because the obivous thing is that the longest title is the MainMovie that needs to be shown. there System could get the pointer what .ifo file to use.

Cars2 e.g. is one problem thing.

Hi. Just updated the Server to recent (2014-03-08) version, but .iso DVD DVDFab fullCopy files did not play at MainMovie part.  System just gave some other parts of the DVD to play...

Hi.

Debug logs are send via PM. :)

A couple of things

Firstly have you hit force refresh from within the meta section of the server? The fact that the menu file VTS_09_0.VOB is being included in the transcode tells me that either you haven't / or the last server was released without that fix (i think it was but they are all blending together now).

The a/r you reported in the pm should be fixed in next release.

An you mentioned that it is a full dvd? can you check that it does in fact contain video_ts.ifo

Posted

Hi.

Yes, It was full DVDFab produced FullCopy .iso file with no FBI etc removed and so on. I want to backUp my own purchased DVD movies to my NAS to enjoy those as library experience. DVDFab is also bought.

video_ts.ifo was there aswell.

Can you someone tell me when new version of the Server is out there to test it?

Hi. Using Server Version 3.0.5233.40306 and tested just with FireFox. Playing .iso DVD series dumps works really good! Slider and other functionalities works as they should, but subtitle recognition on the lists fail: I got only "Unknown language, DVDSub". They render just great, when you blindly find the corret one.

Material are DVDFab's produces pure, untouched episode rip-offs, "Band of brothers" so one .iso file has one language track (ac3) and all subtitle tracks there could be..

ALSO, when watching (via firefox) MPEG2 .ts recordings with TTX-subtitles, system crashes compleately when user selects the subtitle.  Oddly all subtitles are listed as one subtitle on the selection list of the player..

Languageeng,swe,swe,nor,nor,dan,dan,fin,fin
DefaultNo
ForcedNo
ExternalNo

All audiotracks are correctly listed... I can deliever a sample videos for the developers to test... only 37MB..

So... debug logs of...?

You are doing Amazing work! Thank you for this!!

Hi.

Just updated the Server (08.06.2014) to test if this .TS stream's TTX subtitle was fixed, but no. So the still the same TTX subtitle problem remains that crashes the server.

Hi.

Ok, I have send a private message that has ftp site where you can get the logs and a sample .ts mpeg2 (Canal+ recording) file where the subtitles are bundeleed all to gether and selecting them crashes the server. Hope this helps to resolve a major problem preventing me to make use of this marvellous app.. I used FireFox 29.x (ip:port/mediabrowser/dashboard/index.html) to play the file in the library..

Hi. Tested "Media Browser Server 3.0.5287 Beta", but with DVD movies, "unknown DVDSubtitle" is still the problem. Server does not seem to understand. Also TTX-subtitles are still bundeled together and choosing it, system crashes..

Dvd works great with clients that don't have to transcode. For clients that do have to transcode, it's still can be hit or miss.

Hi there.

With Server 3.0.5309 Beta many DVD .iso movies (Full with DVDFab) the main movie does not work. e.g. With "Cars 2". Systems starts to play only the main menu .vob (all language variant-screens)..

Keep up the Great Work though! Love this!

Tested 3.0.5326.13255 and there is really something now! Even Windows Phone 8.0 device's Client works pretty good.

DVD .iso movies has Chapter selection, and rewind/fast fowrads works.

Though system's audioTrack & subtitle preferences do not work. I have "Finland" for both audio & subtitles set on the server, but playing was it was no subs and english audio.

NICE work!

I'm trying this now with the .ISO and getting the same thing - picking up the extras instead of the main movie. Is this the same issue?

I have a Captain America DVD rip that is having a similar problem. The "extras" are being selected instead of the main movie. Running server Version 3.0.5441.2. Playback in roku, Win8.1, and WP8 apps behave the same. I've tried refresh of the metadata, so far no change. it thinks the movie length is 2:04 with seems correct for the main movie. is there a way to change the server's selection of main movie for transcoding/playback?

If this is a folder rip, it's an experimental feature. The encoding libraries we depend on do not support them, so we do our best to workaround that, but it is a workaround at best. So no, there is no way to switch tracks unless you are using a client that can direct play without having to stream through the server.

Now with Emby Version 3.0.5667.6, still those .iso DVD-video mainMovies starting point is incorrect..

How is the system actually recognizing where  (what .ifo & vob) to start streaming?

I don't expect ISO and DVD video rips are getting any attention at all.  It's a format that's generally losing support in the incident as people are converting those to streaming-friendly formats like MKVs.  I'm not on the dev team so I don't know for certain but every time the subject comes up EBR seems to recommend converting to MKV which I call a hint ;)

Convert to MKV and you can keep your video, audio, subtitles, etc., completely untouched.  You will lose the DVD menus but they're replaced with nice, standardized Emby menus.

It isn't just us but all the tools we use to interrogate and process video.  None of them officially support ISO or other folder-based formats and, it is quite likely, they never will because, as you said, this is basically a format that is going away (for computer-based playback anyway).

To my knowledge, we have the best support of these formats of anything out there but it still isn't anywhere near perfect.

Well, thank you for the replies, but..

* Current Emby solution tries to pick the mainmovie part from the mass, but fails too often.

* Instead of using some .ifo based mainMovie recognizing technique, can the System just scan the VIDEO_TS folder for the VTS_0x_n+1.vob files and the determine what VTS_xx files series is has most 1GB files in the sequence. Then system will know that vob series to load up. With C# LINQ this is child's play..

* I have over 1200 .iso pure DVD-Video files in my NAS and I'm enjoying full DVD experience with KODI's beautiful AeonNOX skinned library approach. So transcoding them all to (h264/mpeg2) mkv containers is out of the picture.

* For me, Emby is soly a transcoder solution to facilitate my DVD/Bluray library to be enjoyed on the battlefield.

Wish you luck then.  As EBR said, this is not a format with wide support and the current implementation isn't perfect.  Perhaps it will improve in time but given the number of users I would personally look at doing a conversion.  1200 discs, already ripped, would not actually take all that long to convert in my experience.

Yes, in theory all of that is possible, but degree of difficulty is high, demand for them is dropping, and most users seem to understand that transcoding a folder rip isn't going to provide the same experience as direct playing.
