No user playback notifications

I have pushbullet linked up with emby and it works perfectly to send me playback notifications for users I have created on my server. The issue is that when I invite an existing emby user account to share my media, I get no notifications on their playback status and no ability to correct it (that I can see). Is this a known limitation, or am I missing something? I love having real time updates on everything that is playing on my server.
