I am having playback issues in windows 10 or 7 using theater or ember, android app or samsung smart tv.  When I play a movie or TV program from my Nas drives starts out fine if i try to stop and restart it will not resume. If I try to jump ahead it will fail and put a check as though it has played completely. I have Version 3.2.26.0 as my server running on a windows 10 machine. Any help would be nice

The problem is happening on all users it has to do with the buffer you added to the server. on the bar when its playing a movie or tv show the bar does not show correct it is only showing 2 min but its changing and if you try to advance it freezes the screen then exits out and shows a check mark as though you have played it to the end.  You don't  see the full movie or tv show on the green bar its drawn full but its only 30 sec to 6 min long,  the bar at the bottom shows time as you watch its getting longer but it looks like the movie is loading slowly as you watch. I can advance it after waiting a few min. so the buffer is the problem.

We don't have any control over the web app buffer. It sounds like maybe it is being pushed too hard with too large of a file. Have you tried lowering the in-app quality setting to force it to transcode. This will produce a smaller output.

Additionally let's please look at an example along with the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !

I tried changing the H264 encoding setting from 0 to 51 18 looks about the best the green bar is only up to 21 min in  12 min of playing and its going up slowly. Before this upgrade this never happened. Can you give me a link to the older ver of the server and can i go back to it

I find that this only happens on some movies not all very strange. again this was not a problem before the upgrade of the server. also it always shows that check mark that I hve watched it when i only played it for a few min

I have attached a screen shot of a TV show playing you can see on the bottom bar that 42 seconds have played and only 4 min of the show are shown on the bar. this use to show the complete file and you could jump ahead now it does not.

Can you please attach all of the requested information? Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no playback activity in this server log. Can you please make sure to provide the server log from the time-frame of the playback attempt? If you're not sure, then the easiest thing to do is restart the server, reproduce the problem again, and then attach the latest log file. thanks.

Can you attach the ffmpeg log as well? Also, you said that it would fail if you jumped ahead, so please make sure to perform that action and then attach the log from that. thanks.

What exactly do you mean by this?

it still does not load the complete file or tv show or movie

Is your N: drive a mapped network drive? If so we highly recommend not using mapped network drives because Windows will disconnect them during idle periods. Instead I would suggest just using the original network path in Emby library setup. Let us know if this helps. Thanks.

it is the network path not mapped. I have 3 nas drives and a second computer with mapped drives

(it still does not load the complete file or tv show or movie)  on the bottom bar where in the example I sent you see the time line of the file. it did show the complete full move or TV file start to finish. Now in some files it only loads 3 min and slowly loads more of the file as you play it. I think the the sever restart helped with the crashing.

That's just the way it works. Depending on what technique is being used internally to play the video, the buffering progress will be different. Sometimes it buffers as much as possible ahead of time, other times it will just buffer a few seconds.

Then that's exactly what I mean. What path does N: map to?

N is  a nas drive so is M they both play files that show correctly and those that do not. The drive letter never changes they are connected directly to the router.

the nas drives are mapped  as network attached storage. the drives are always the same letter  windows loads them at startup. If there was a problem the drives would not load. I don't have a problem with my nas drives.  this problem only happened with the new release I did not have the problem before it installed the new server.

Try rebooting your system.

Windows is notorious for disconnecting mapped network drives when it thinks they aren't needed anymore.   Is there no other way to address them?  You cannot use a UNC path?
