All other users function properly?

If you create a new user, does it work as expected?

yes

i do not want to delete this user as it has tons of watch history that i do not want to recreate.  isnt there a backdoor where the users data is stored we can clear out the password that might be there?

The only thing I can figure is that this user is somehow corrupted in the database so it will probably have to be re-created.

You can use the Server Configuration Backup plugin to backup the user data.  If you remove the user and then re-create it with the same name it had before, then you may not even have to restore the user data as it may just still properly tie to it.  However, that may also mean whatever corruption is there will still also exist.

If worse comes to worst, the backup plug-in will allow you to restore the user data from the old user into a new one.

that worked!  where were you weeks ago?

i think it is worthwhile just verifying that when you clear out a password it actually clears it out via the admin console.

Great.

Did you end up having to restore the user data into a new user or did you just delete and re-create the user?

I deleted the user

created new user with same username

went to restore plugin and restored the old users play/watch history to the new user

last little bit of information - i finally decided to not be lazy and dig up where you guys store the db and go looking for myself

looks like the user still has a Password and EasyPassword section even though i cleared those out

i bet the android tv app still sees those and thats why the lock icon shows up.

{"UsesIdForConfigurationPath":true,"Password":"","EasyPassword":"","Name":"extensive","LastLoginDate":"2017-09-12T00:58:29.4362795Z","LastActivityDate":"2017-09-12T19:18:43.8802779Z"}

-edit

now looking at it, i dont think the restore is really overwriting that user with anything...because i chose a backup from 9-10 and the lastlogindate still states 9-12

oh, well.  i still think im on to something but at this point i dont care, ha.
