extensive 20 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Emby Server Version 3.2.26.0 I was messing around with a user I have had since the beginning (over a year ago). First I gave that user a password and selected the blank pin option to not prompt internally for a password. Went to my AndroidTV (Shield TV) device and there is a little lock next to my user Choose user and password prompt pops up. This form is buggy as hell and won't let you type anything in but I hit done and it logs me in. Went to the Web App via FireFox, choose that user. It prompts me for a password. I just hit login and it logs me in Please help or verify this is indeed a bug. Do i need to post logs for this?
Luke 42078 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 First, why do you think the password form is buggy? Can you please explain that a little more? And yes, please provide the server log in relation to the prompting for password. thanks.
ebr 16184 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 This form is buggy as hell and won't let you type anything in but I hit done and it logs me in. The on-screen keyboard on Android TV really sux but what do you mean by "won't let you type anything in"?
extensive 20 Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 Sorry I wasn't specific. When I get home tonight I will provide logs and a description on what the login form on androidtv is doing

This form is buggy as hell and won't let you type anything in but I hit done and it logs me in." The form should not even pop up as i had a blank pin. Will take pictures of the keyboard tonight hopefully. Edited August 2, 2017 by extensive
Luke 42078 Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 While we look into why the form is showing in the first place, can you answer this. Once it does show, what exactly makes it "buggy as hell"? Or was that your reaction due to the fact that it shouldn't be showing at all? Thanks.
extensive 20 Posted August 3, 2017 Author Posted August 3, 2017 tried to use remote to go to first character, hit ok button to select and it jumped to done. basically wouldn't let me type anything....buggy as hell
Luke 42078 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Can you please show us a screenshot how you've setup the in-network pin? Everything in your log seems to look OK so right now we're unclear on why you're seeing the password screen. Thanks.
ebr 16184 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 tried to use remote to go to first character, hit ok button to select and it jumped to done. basically wouldn't let me type anything....buggy as hell Not sure what's going on there but that is a standard Android TV component...
extensive 20 Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 Further developments are that it looks like it is centered around 1 remote...my other work fine. So we just have 1 problem...why is password prompt even popping up on android tv. Thanks
extensive 20 Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Sorry it took so long. This is extremely frustrating. I completely removed the password now https://www.dropbox.com/s/0ighb48n3ledhoy/emby%20no%20password.JPG?dl=0 I still have a little lock Icon next to the user in AndroidTV (Nvidia Shield TV) and upon selecting that user I am prompted with a login. I have to hit next to login. Please help.
Luke 42078 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 @@extensive, what about the web app, is that making you sign in? Thanks !
extensive 20 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 @@Luke - web app isn't making me login. maybe i should clear data or uninstall/reinstall androidtv app?
ebr 16184 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Clearing data on the app is something to certainly try...
extensive 20 Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 @@Luke no change unfortunately, i even uninstalled/reinstalled https://photos.app.goo.gl/kU7OlslyeFBIhzM53
ebr 16184 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 @@Luke - web app isn't making me login. maybe i should clear data or uninstall/reinstall androidtv app? Probably just because it is automatically remembering your credentials. If that lock icon is showing up in the interface, then the server is telling us that user has a password. I think we probably need to circle back around and examine your settings for the user closely on the server. Screenshots of the user setup screens would be best. Thanks.

Luke 42078 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 If you explicitly log out of the web app, and then try to sign back in, does the web app make you enter a password? thanks.
extensive 20 Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 @@Luke - no the problem lies with the androidtv app it appears
Luke 42078 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 I mean did you actually log out of the web app as opposed to just closing the browser?
ebr 16184 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Also, I know this sounds silly but we cannot see the title bar in your screen shots so we are 100% sure we're looking at the same user in both apps, right?
extensive 20 Posted September 5, 2017 Author Posted September 5, 2017 I mean did you actually log out of the web app as opposed to just closing the browser? lol yes and yes it is the same user.
extensive 20 Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 @@ebr @@Luke any other ideas? tried my 2 other devices (asus nexus player) and they show the lock icon. there is nothing cached on my shield that is causing the issue, it lies with that user.
