MEB 27 Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 The new popup to warn the next episode will begin playing is cutting off the last like 5 or 10 seconds of the show, some shows don't have black screen credits and actual story is playing with the credits so it makes missing some story. This should function like the android tv version where it starts warning at 1min and actual plays the whole episode so you can hit play next if the show is over. 1
nagetech 69 Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I agree, I find some of my shows dont have end credits and the auto play cuts off the end. IS there a way to edit this behavior?
ozchef 3 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Another thing if you pause your show the countdown continues
nagetech 69 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Another thing if you pause your show the countdown continues Yes I was trying to find a way to stop the countdown, but apparently there isn't
chef 3810 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Does the latest version of emby theater in Xbox one have this available? Can we shove the player to the left corner of the screen and have the alert show in the rest of the three quadrants? 1

Since we cannot know when the credits really start, I don't think this would be desirable by most people. 1
chef 3810 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 What about a compromise where an overlay with 0.5 alpha is on the bottom of the screen with user inputs? This way there is no missed media and it isn't super intrusive? Netflix's "are you still there" is far more intrusive then that but they always have end credits. I've always loved this feature !
LiquidFX 144 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 I would like to be able to turn off this feature 1
nagetech 69 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Yes, maybe an option to stop the count down? It's frustrating not being able to see the end of a show un-interrupted.
jordy 284 Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 If you want to turn this off... In the Server WebUI, select your User Icon at top right and select "Playback" from the menu. At the bottom of Playback settings is the item you need to uncheck...
nagetech 69 Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Thanks for that! Hoping that @@Luke will enable more options to further tweak this new feature. Has lots of potential

MEB 27 Posted August 6, 2017 Author Posted August 6, 2017 What about a compromise where an overlay with 0.5 alpha is on the bottom of the screen with user inputs? This way there is no missed media and it isn't super intrusive? Netflix's "are you still there" is far more intrusive then that but they always have end credits. I've always loved this feature ! The problem is when the countdown reaches 0 it just ends the episode even though it might have 30seconds left so the end of the episode is skipped. Which means if there is any story left during credits it's missed. It needs to countdown and go to the next episode after it's over, it can popup so you can skip it when it's over though.
darkassassin07 652 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 (edited) Why not add a simple offset setting in the metadata to allow users to shift the end of the count down +/- both for individual items, and whole collections/series at a time. These settings would be additive: series at 5sec, season at -5, show at 3: total 3sec from end to skip. Values greater than video.length (minus the actual count down time) or less than 0 mapped to those limits. Default: 15sec (as it is now) to assume you have credits, but changeable at will. Side note: There could even be rudimentary frame analysis looking for a black screen with text near the end of the video to search for the beginning of credits. Wouldn't cover everything, but it would catch alot. Edited August 8, 2017 by darkassassin07
guynamedbilly 18 Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I'm having a problem with this too. It cuts off the last 5 to 10 seconds of the end of an episode.

firestorm213 6 Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I've noticed that it's skipping the last few seconds as well. Is this to help skip some of the expected credits? I think just adding an option to change the timer length and having 0 be the end of the video file would be a good solution. Unless there's some strange codec thing that's causing the early skip. 1
guynamedbilly 18 Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 See post 13 in this topic. Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk Yes, I turned it off. I'd assume they want to fix it though.
jordy 284 Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Yea, thing is though, without some sort of check to see if there are actually credits present at the end, this is always going to be a problem. I see it as cosmetic and non essential, so off will do for me. It's fine for Netflix etc because their episodes ALL have credits... Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-L09 using Tapatalk
ebr 16169 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Yea, thing is though, without some sort of check to see if there are actually credits present at the end, this is always going to be a problem. It isn't always going to be a problem as long as we don't actually skip past part of the material. This feature has existed in some of the apps for over two years and works very well. You simply dismiss the information if it comes up too early and then things progress normally. I'm not really sure how the feature is affecting playback in the other apps.
jordy 284 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Sorry @@ebr, for me and abviously others as well, this is an unwelcome and unnecessary option. I like to binge watch TV therefore I have the auto play next episode option checked. When this information re the next episode in 10secs started happening, I started losing the last part of nearly every episode I watched, credits or not and it was extremely annoying so I turned it off. In my opinion, as I am already expecting the next episode to start automatically it seems like overkill to add the next episode info. What I don't understand is why does it need to cut off the last part of the video. Perhaps you can answer that. If it were just the info on Its own that would be fine as a warning. This seems to be another of those things that is trying to make Emby into the next Netflix or something but does not really enhance the current experience - just my opinion...
