lifespeed 42 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 I probably already know the answer to this, but there is no way to integrate Amazon streaming into Emby Theater is there?
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) I'm pretty sure there is no API to embed Amazon video control in a third party app, similar to how Netflix does not offer such options. edit--if they offered such access someone might spend 5 minutes on their freaking awful UI and embarrass them Edited July 28, 2017 by Deathsquirrel
lifespeed 42 Posted August 7, 2017 Author Posted August 7, 2017 (edited) PlayOn? If only Emby could support a PlayOn plugin, although I guess simply storing the recordings in the appropriate location would work. No doubt PlayOn wants you in *their* world, not a mere plugin to another media server. But you'd have to leave the Emby interface. Still, a reasonable suggestion. If they can do it, one would presume legally, why can't it be done as an Emby plugin? Putting aside of course the minor task of coding Edited August 7, 2017 by lifespeed
Sammy 790 Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 (edited) ORIGINAL POST: There is a PlayOn Plugin for Emby. It is a little clunky but it exists. The developer had a baby and started a family so that is taking up his time right now so it is a little half-baked. As far as amazon goes it is my experience that it only plays back those saved to your Watch List in amazon and this is a limitation of PlayOn. You can "record" with Playon and playback the videos later but you have to hard encode the subtitles if you want them. EDIT: Well, I take all that back. It seems it is gone from the store had has been removed from my plugin library. Still, I record with Playon and watch with Emby by having the recording directory as one of my Emby Library Items. Sammy 790 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 there is an Emby plugin. I used it when you asked the question Mine is missing? What is gone from what store? I guess I meant to say the Plugin Catalog.
Sammy 790 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 And today it was there.. I don't know why it was missing but I just had to re-instal it.. HMM..
Spaceboy 2573 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Mine is missing? I guess I meant to say the Plugin Catalog. i think its Emby Premiere only
Sammy 790 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 I am premier. As it has always been the only way to really use Amazon Video is to put it in a Watchlist on Amazon first then it will be available on the Plugin.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 I am premier. As it has always been the only way to really use Amazon Video is to put it in a Watchlist on Amazon first then it will be available on the Plugin. dunno why it disappeared for you then? i find the different providers have different results. for example i can search and play the entire netflix catalogue from within emby. Amazon, i have prime but none of the Prime stuff available to UK customers seems to be available. but this seems to be because playon is only configured to work with Amazon.com not amazon.co.uk. Funny or Die seems to work ok most of the other providers are entirely US so either hold no interest for me or are probably not available to me
lifespeed 42 Posted August 27, 2017 Author Posted August 27, 2017 Turns out PlayOn uses antiquated non-HTML5 Internet Explorer software limiting their streaming service access to 720p. Fail.
