elsmandino 4 Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Hello, I have just installed Emby on my Openmediavault, with a view to streaming Video to various RPi Kodi clients, via the plugin. I am not able to stream anything and I think that this might be due to problems with the Path Substitution setting (i.e. I haven't put anything in it). I have shared a folder, called "TV Shows", via both Samba and NFS. I then added the absolute path for the folder: /srv/harddrive UID/TVShows How do I know what to use for the Path Substitution path? I used to run Emby on a Windows server and used \\WINDOWSSERVER\TVShows. Do I use the same with Linux? E.g. \\openmediavault\TVShows?

It'd be the full nfs or smb path. eg, nfs://ip_of_server:/path/to/share
elsmandino 4 Posted July 31, 2017 Author Posted July 31, 2017 Thank you for that. Out of interest, does Emby work equally well with Samba and NFS?
mastrmind11 722 Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Thank you for that. Out of interest, does Emby work equally well with Samba and NFS? yes but nfs is preferred if you're running a pure linux environment. if you have windows stuff in the mix, then smb is preferred since it's supported natively by windows.
Luke 42077 Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 This setting will have no effect on streaming so the best thing to do is please provide the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
