Subtitle menu doesn't 'stick' on screen

Pressing the asterisk to display the subtitle menu flashes the menu, but then it immediately disappears, not letting the user select anything.

On what device and firmware version?

 

Does the item you are playing actually have subtitles available?

My device is a Roku HDMI Stick running 7.6.0, though the same issue occurs on a Roku 3 (don't know the number of the firmware version, but the user checked for updates immediately prior to playback).

 

And yes there are subtitles available and it shows the list in the window that flashes on-screen, but it doesn't stay up.

Yes, pressing the ok button and then selecting the subtitle icon works.  It's only the asterisk button that doesn't work.

Okay, thanks. We are having to hijack that button and I think our method probably needs some adjustment.
