islipfd19 0 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) I guess this topic would apply under the general forum topics. I've recently moved from Plex to Emby. I'm setting up the camera upload feature on my phone. I've selected the server that I want to upload pictures to on my phone. Under 'Camera Upload' on the server settings, I've chosen the path where the pictures will be uploaded to and have checked the box 'Create a subfolder for each device'. Under devices, I've selected my device and provided it a new name and chosen the 'Camera Upload path'. Emby has read/write access to the folder paths. Both the 'Camera Upload path' and the 'Create a subfolder for each device' are the same directory. Does Emby create a new folder with the name I've provided it under 'Display Name:' and upload the pictures to that, or do I have to create the folder manually and chose that folder under 'Camera Upload path'? [edit] I do want to add, I did add the folder path to the 'Home videos & photos' library. The folder path for 'Camera Upload', 'Create a subfolder for each device' and 'Home videos & photos' library are all the same. I know the camera upload sync runs every hours (I forget where I read that), is there a way to clear out the database of what photos Emby needs to upload? During my tests, I was able to upload some pictures but not to the directory I wanted them to; I somehow was able to upload them again by choosing different folders. I've deleted the folders it has already uploaded, if that matters any. Edited July 25, 2017 by islipfd19
Luke 42080 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 if you set a global default path and check the box for subfolders, then it will be as you are expecting. However, if you override the path for a specific device, then that device gets that path and does not use the global settings at all. does that answer your question? we don't currently have a way to clear the upload history although we should probably add that. i'll see if i can dig up something you can do manually in the meantime. thanks.

Thanks! This does help. Since I want all the camera uploads in a common location, I will use the Global setting and clear the specific device folder path. May a make a suggestion? Perhaps adding a bit more detail about how device folders are created on the WIki? It was the first place I looked for this answer and it wasn't quite clear enough; for me anyways. I look forward to the steps you provide manually to clearing the upload history.
islipfd19 0 Posted July 26, 2017 Author Posted July 26, 2017 @@Luke I stumbled upon what I needed to do to "reset" which pictures have been uploaded from my camera. I was monitoring the latest server log while it was performing a library scan and found that each file that was uploaded is listed in the devices 'camerauploads.json' file in the specific devices directory under '/var/lib/emby-server/data/devices/' folder. I removed that file and Emby created the folder that I wanted for the device.
